What was your reaction when you met an individual you perceived to be very intelligent but they were not?

Over the course of my years, I have met many people. Some of these people were in high visibility and some were not in high visibility. But they all shared one thing, from afar they seemed highly intelligent. From these encounters I learned that a well written script and a talented mouthpiece can create phenomenal allusions.

It is not enough to merely know what or how. It has to be coupled with knowing when and why. I've met too many ivory tower people who cannot engage with the messy system called reality. Why is it so many people with big college degrees are not truly educated?

I have found that most people are intelligent/well-informed on some things a bone stupid/utterly ignorant about other things. The wise among us know when they have something smart to contribute; and when their energies should be spent being the "menial labor."
