Never got to Bogalusa, but we drove all over the rest of that danged state, it seemed. LA JFHQ had no idea what to do with another MP company so we sat at the airfield for 5 days before getting our mission in BR. Crazy 3 weeks...

Didn't make it to Bogalusa but I was stationed at Barksdale AFB at the time. In addition to being active duty AF, I was also a Reserve Police Officer for Bossier City PD. We were rather busy for the first few weeks after the storm struck.

Guarding banks, hospitals and Walmart. Riding shotgun for the local police. And watching the locals get drive thru daiquiris the size of a big gulp.

Never made it that way, we were over at Belle Chase NAS for a while then moved down to the Port Sulphur High School, south of New Orleans and patrolled around the towns of Bootheville and Venice, two little tiny fishing towns. We found a lot of great locals that had weathered through everything or had come back, and they would fix us dinner some nights and the local "bar" where they always wanted to buy us a couple beers.

I thought Bogalusa was just over the line in Mississippi? Either way, I was there. Everybody we encountered was EXTREMELY gracious and very happy we were there to help.

Covington, LA was a different story though.
