When I was a SrA before gaining NCO status as a Sergeant, we had the NCO Preparatory Course (I completed the course in June of 1988). At that time it was 2 weeks long. My supervisor at the time went to what was called Level 1 PME if I recall correctly.Response by TSgt Private RallyPoint Member made Apr 3 at 2015 10:55 PM2015-04-03T22:55:53-04:002015-04-03T22:55:53-04:00SSgt Tamara Engevold570768<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>I earned the John Levitow award as Honor Graduate of the NCO Prepatory CourseResponse by SSgt Tamara Engevold made Apr 3 at 2015 11:06 PM2015-04-03T23:06:20-04:002015-04-03T23:06:20-04:00TSgt Jackie Jones570785<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>Before they started promoting Staff Sergeants at such a high rate, SRA without line numbers were allowed and encouraged/directed to attend ALS- Airman Leadership School. E-4 Sergeants? Is this a new change? Do you become a Sergeant after a leadership course?Response by SFC Mark Merino made Apr 4 at 2015 4:44 AM2015-04-04T04:44:43-04:002015-04-04T04:44:43-04:00MSgt Michael Durkee571074<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>Yes, it was the NCO Preparatory Course. Just a short tale. I went to Airman's Leadership School back in the 60's. 4 weeks long and to many gigs and spend the week-end restricted. Long days, tough inspections and lots of marching. Learning experience. Probably finished about half the way down. Approx 5 or 6 years later, NCOA. 6th in class ranking. Very new TSgt. Schools were by commands back in the day.. Got one gig in NCOA.Response by MSgt John McGowan made Aug 30 at 2016 9:11 PM2016-08-30T21:11:12-04:002016-08-30T21:11:12-04:002015-04-03T22:47:02-04:00
