Who joined as a lab tech but was going to the army running team(?) I think that was the case. Not even joking this guy used to only ever get faster the longer he would run. So on our final APFT of the cycle he asked 1SG if he could do a 2-3mi warm up so he'd be ready to go all out on the actual 2mi and he completed it in like 8:45 I believe.. was absolutely mind blowing. <br /><br />Highest overall score I've ever seen was while at AIT as an IET soldier and a prior service infantry was taking one. Now I'm a big fella 6'5 been playing various contact sports my entire life. This fella was an absolute monster. think his score extended scale score was like 390 or something. He ran a sub 11 2mi (like 1050--1055) and I remember precisely 111 sit ups because I was holding his feet and I'm not positive on his push-ups but I remember our CPT came down specifically to watch him and his push ups were just a straight blur.... I ran with quite a few guys back in the 80s and we were all sub 11s or high 10s. That's just being in shape. We had 2 guys who were rated #1 and #2 in USAEUR in cross-country and both ran upper 8s. Very impressive ... but both were poor in push-ups and sit-ups. Once saw a young lady crank out 135 sit-ups and a huge man (who looked chubby) knock out 140 GOOD push-ups. I'm sure we have several service members across our services who can put all of these numbers to shame. Amazing what great athletes with great desire can accomplish. He would do 20 dead hang pull ups then 100 Crunches in under 2 minutes than 3 miles in under 18 minutes. As soon as he crossed the finish line he would start with the pull-ups again. <br /> I believe he also did an entire PFT in under 18 minutes. My fastest run I can remember was actually in the beginning of Basic Training a 10:11 from there I got slower and would run usually in the 11s. Once I hit around a 100 PU and SU I usually get up. My entire career I was always 2-5 pounds over weight according to the standard. I remember in PLDC in Bamholder me an another guy pretty much had the same score overall the highest two in the class and we both had to get taped, we went in to get taped and the institutor asked, "aren't you the two that did like 100 PU/SU and low 11m 2m run?" All the while standing there in just our shorts I don't think you could have pinch a -1MM of skin on either of us. And as impressive as that was right after that they had to run 4 miles in ACUs at an 8 minute pace to the Air Assault course to receive a go in that event, he made it in 28 minutes. Or I should say apparently we did but we never used it. I always did 5 over max on sit-ups and push-ups and ran between 10-10:30. But my PSNCO in Hawaii made me look silly on the run. He always ran below 9 minutes. He was a high school cross country state champion in California. I ran a 10 mile loop with him once and when we finished he did it again. Then he ate a whole large pizza. The guy also maxed push-ups and sit-ups. They tested our body fat at a 10K we ran in Honolulu and he was below 3%, they told him it was dangerous. We were both 44 years old and were in better shape than anyone in the unit to include the Master Fitness Trainer. The difference was the SGM and I ran an additional 6-8 miles a day and lifted weights for 90 minutes a day, except on weekends. I ran 2 Marathons in a month at age 56 on a be. While you can't take anything away from a fast run, I've seen Soldiers who do a lot of "push ups" but they either fail to go low enough, or fully extend their arms. Is it their fault the push ups are counted? No, that's a grader issue. WHILE smoking between events (not every event just when he felt like it), smoked one just before the run and lit another at finish line. About 6' 2" and weighed 180. Just did morning PT and I was jealous. I was never the PT Stud, struggled with the overhead ladder. A guy in my platoon ran track in HS and college. The BN CSM called him out and offered some friendly competition. The PVT ran the initial 2 mile in 10 flat and was a little disappointed. CSM ran it with us and had 9:50. By the end of BCT, he improved (motivated with beating the CSM) to a 9:30. The CSM ran the end of cycle test and got 9 flat. In our group that was testing were two special forces soldiers who did the two-mile run running backwards while smoking cigarettes. She had been mercilessly harassed by a fellow officer and a CSM about her weight after her long and difficult pregnancy. She buckled down, lost 35 lbs, went to PT every morning and evening while taking care of her kids and working at the hospital running a very busy ob/gyn floor and covering for the ER on weekends. Ran herself into the ground. During the weeks proceeding the APFT her CPT kept telling her that if she didn't pass he would make it his personal mission to get her out of the Army. No second chances, no transfer, just out. The CSM saw the effort she was putting forth and would meet her at morning PT once a week. The day of the APFT it was cold, snowy, windy and wet. There were only about a dozen soldiers taking the test and the one officer. The other soldiers were PT Rock stars and the CPT and CSM arrived to watch over the test. Everyone blazed through the Pushups and Situps, and the 1LT maxed her numbers plus 10. But the run was next and with the rising sun it had gotten colder and windier. The runners set out and the soldiers encouraged and ran with the 1LT, sacrificing their scores to help her finish. Many finished and quickly returned to encourage her along. She finished with a 275. The CPT tried to talk to her, still not being very encouraging (or professional) when the 1LT stood up to catch her breath, bent over and threw up all over the CPT's pants and boots. BEST. FINISH. EVER. She became the local rock star for a while. Never had a problem with the APFT after that. Retired as a CPT I think, couldn't get a MAJ slot.
