The amusing part was, not only did they have no idea how to change said tire, but they called me from 6 miles away to come help them, rather than asking a passerby.

I think what I found most amusing about it was that this Chaplain trusted me, above everyone else they work with, to come help (even though I am easily the most "vulgar, crass, offensive and often disrespectful person" they've ever met, according to what they've said). (I don't remember the specifics). The Major took umbrage to a 'mere' Captain talking to him 'like that'. I was at my station roughly 7 feet away, and could hear the Major yelling on the phone from where I sat. The Captain took the phone from his ear, looked at it, looked at me, winked, put the phone back to his ear and waited for the tirade to end, without saying anything. When the Major wound down, he said, levelly, "This is NAVAL Captain so-and-so..." Man, I swear you could hear a pin drop from the other side of the phone. The Captain then proceeded to lay the Major out, but he did it calmly, without even raising his voice. It was very...entertaining. My guess is that Major never took another call from a captain without remembering that incident. My swim buddy and I were assigned to cleaning the instructor's office this particular day. We would run to the office, stand at attention outside their door, and ring the bell ONE time.

The instructors were always coming up with unique ways to screw with us. The day prior my classmate rang the bell and waited to be called in. The SEAL Chief says, you call that a ring?! Ring it like a man! So my classmate gave it a loud strike. The Chief comes out, looks him in the eye and says, "Like a MAN!" So my classmate gives it all he has and strikes it hard. The Chief cracks a smile and says, "Congratulations, you've rang the bell 3 times. Take a step inside and we can start your DOR paperwork." - He didn't actually get dropped, but the cadre seemed to get a kick out of it.

Anyway, back to the story. My swim buddy and I were standing at attention outside the office waiting to be called in when one of the SEAL Instructors comes out with a box of cupcakes. There is one cupcake in the box. He looks me up and down, then turns to my swim buddy and says, "here' have a cupcake." My swim buddy responds, "No thank you, Instructor!" The instructor says, "Eat the cupcake..." My swim buddy again responds, "No thank you, Instruct!" So the instructor takes the cupcake and violently throws it on the ground and shouts, "DROP!" We both drop into the pushup position. The instructor kneels down, and says, "You will take a bite of that cupcake everytime you push up." We start our pushups and my swim buddy is eating as much as he can. The cadre comes out and is laughing hysterically. The Chief steps out and stops us in the leaning rest. Looking down at my swim buddy he says, "If you can whistle, just once, I'll recover you both." My swim buddy tries to whistle with a mouth full of chocolate cupcake and starts spewing everywhere. The Chief and cadre lose their mind! We were recovered and had to swab the deck. I'll never forget it. We had an O-6 Regimental Commander who had an all hands dress blues inspection out on Treasure Island. Problem was he forgot his tie. When he came out, voila, he had a tie. I finally figured it out when I glanced to the end of the line where the junior Ensign had a black sock stapled to his shirt. Skipper commented how squared away he was. Skipper also bought a few rounds that night; a good time had by all.

Had all sorts of antics like gassing the XO down in Antarctica but I know I told those sometime last year.
