What was the first exposure to a type of ethnic food that caused you to dislike all of it?

Growing up in Rhode Island in the late 1960's and 70's, RI wasn't noted as being a bastion for Asian Culinary Arts. My first exposure to any Asian food was the dreaded glop in a can called Chun King. This two part can o stuff and the really rubbery dried noodles were my first exposure. I was kid of all of 6 or 7 and thought this had to be the worst stuff on the planet. I could not eat Chinese food for years until someone took me to the Asian Place across from my apartment when I was Stationed in Holland. After that I became a convert, but still to this day I avoid the "King," and it other rival La Choy. What foods did any of yo avoid as it was not authentic or not really what it should of been, it was just some Americanized slop? Hispanic food was much the same way for me as we only had Taco Bell (late 70's), and Old El Paso. Not much to get you started on, by any shape, but Mexican was better than the King. I look forward to see if anyone else has a meal or dish or ethnic food they don't care ofr.

I don't know if it was by first exposure, but on one of my deployments the cooks seemed to put curry in EVERYTHING. To this day I have trouble even walking into an Indian restaurant.

There are definitely dishes I do not like, but I cannot say that I don't like an entire cuisine. I guess maybe the Punjabi regions, mostly vegetarian, too many lentils, food But man, when you get them to cook a goat there is nothing better.

Don't like Vietnamese. I think I have a distaste for foods of countries where teh people shot at me.
