Two words? Really tough. No—those aren’t the two words. I mean it’s really tough to sum it up in two words :)

It’s been a good year, with lots of good things happening. So, if I had to rank all those good things, I’ll put at the top of my list these two words—Visiting Grandkids. Yep. Doesn’t get much better than that.

May not be (probably isn’t) what you’re looking for, but that’s my story and I’m sticking to it :)

Mine would be: Sacrifice and Gain.

Being stationed at Joint Base Lewis McChord, WA was a challenging time for me, especially being in a medical BN, BDE and ESC as an Ordnance NCO. I'm sure there's a lot of support MOSs that don't feel quite "at home" when you're not in a BCT, ASB, BSB, etc. Although I've been given awesome opportunities to serve in higher positions, I still wasn't happy. When I got my promotable status last August, I waited a month and contacted branch to see where I could PCS to because I was tired of where I was. The choice we agreed to make is for me to come to Korea alone and have a follow on assignment of choice somewhat. I don't regret it though, because I'm a platoon sergeant which was a goal that I've always wanted to do. I'm also part of a new unit standing up which is the first of its kind in Korea, so that's pretty monumental. So although I'm sacrificing time away from my family, I'm also gaining the skills and knowledge needed to progress for upcoming roles and responsibilities, which will also help me get to my next goal in the Army: making Master Sergeant.
