What tote did you use when you deployed?

My unit has authorized private purchase for a hard trunk to be used for our C bag. Has to be 2ft x2ftx3ft. I figured it would be better than a duffel bag. Ideas? Thanks!

Sounds like a standard foot locker to me. I have one of those green hard case ones that I have brought overseas three times.
Alternatively, if you are travelling to a place where this makes sense, a Pelican Case to put your electronics and other fragile items can be a good investment.

I have an OLD SCHOOL wooden foot locker (center divider, lift out "drawers") which deployed with me thrice to good effect. The fourth deployment I had a "gorilla on wheels" plastic foot locker which was a bit bigger. It disintegrated shortly after return. Ol' woody is still good to go, and used for storage in retirement.

When I deployed to Bosnia we were issued metal foot lockers that were packed and shipped in the connex. When I deployed to Iraq we were issued plastic foot lockers (lockable plastic containers) that were shipped in the connex. I still have the one from Iraq.

I know that for those willing to shell out the $$$, Pelican was the gold standard. For everyone else, those OD roller cases sold in the NEX seemed the answer. I thought I'd be "special", and got me two canvas aircrew bags; held lots of stuff, were durable, and since I (fortunately) didn't have to hump it too far... basically from the truck to the plane, and from plane to the truck...it worked out ok for me. A decade later, I still use 'em both for hauling gear.

Our unit actually bought us foot lockers for deployment. We got pelican case style foot lockers and worked out great. Water tight and all that good stuff. Only trouble was we didn't get them until like 2 months into tour and had to pack them up about 30-45 days before leaving. Heads up

Hardigg TL500i was the standard issue footlocker in my time. 36.27 x 18.5 x 19.56" according to sizes found by Google. Mine was one of five or so that did not get destroyed when rotating out of country. I still keep the vast majority of my military stuff in there.

I found rolling duffels to be a good alternative - we broke a lot of the wheels on the tough boxes but no issues with the rolling duffels. Idk about getting around the 3 ft requirement (our had to be under 60 in I believe).
