You figure for every trigger pull or there's 20 to 25 of you supporting that person. I would say go officer and whatever Branch you want to be in. You have combat arms, combat support and combat service support. Pol is combat service support. Just get that Commission through OCS or through ROTC. Maybe you could go in through West Point? Let's see what others have to say here. The sky's the limit. I would say go officer. If you want to fly helicopters and you want to buy them for a long time and not transition to a desk job, go warrant officer in aviation. That's still an officer. Simple. Be the best Soldier out there. Know your job better than anyone else. Take adversity head on, then slap it. If given the chance for a school, take it. It may suck at the time, but that school can make you invaluable in the future. Complete every training requirement ahead of schedule. SSD 1--Finish it now. Start getting your Promotion packet created and update as needed. Bug your NCOs and Officers to teach you everything they can. Learn your job two steps up and teach the Soldiers your job two steps down. Prove that you can take on additional duties. Stay out of trouble. Go to EVERY school you can, and take advantage of every opportunity...even if you don’t see immediate results. You can NEVER go wrong taking a course, school, distance learning or resident. It all adds up and you soon will rise above your peers. It all pays off in the end. Just like everyone has said here make sure you put your best foot forward and learn the good stuff and the bad stuff from your future leaders and learn from that to make yourself a better leader.
I have always been a firm believer that Mission First then troop welfare before mine. So learn and strive to accomplish the mission and make your troops better once you become an NCO or officer whatever path you choose. That mindset will get you far. Education is the key. Professional military education (SSD, training, regulations) personal education (go get a degree from an accredited college) max pt test, read leadership adp, maintenance, and become an expert with your weapon. Your leadership style will come with experience and education. Follow Army professional forums such as this. Best of Luck to you! 1SG Jason Rose Fri, 29 Jun 2018 22:08:18 -0400 2018-06-29T22:08:18-04:00 2018-06-28T23:20:29-04:00
