SPC Ryan Su SPC Jan Allbright, M.Sc., R.S. Almost anywhere in the US is great. I think people need to consider post retirement job, family and quality of life (weather, schools, libraries, universities, recreational activities) intangibles first. If you find that you have enough to retire without regard to job, the family and area you live are not so important, then finances come into play.
If you are on a fixed retirement income you will be concerned about how the state taxes you as one of the greatest impacts. This tends to put you in Republican controlled states in the South and MW that have no state income tax, like Florida, Texas, Tenn as examples.
Some people want to be in an area that offers better services, planned development and significant cultural influence areas will like the higher tax coastal areas: NY, NJ, Mass, CA, IL.
Ultimately the decision is very individual, you must decide what is important to you.

Texas, is great, the disability ratings are higher than any other site in my opinion.
