What should we do with the General who said talking to Congress was "treason"? https://www.rallypoint.com/answers/what-should-we-do-with-the-general-who-said-talking-to-congress-was-treason

In my opinion, the military has flexed its authority muscle against political expression in the ranks too much. I understand stopping disrespect and inflammatory remarks against those in charge, but where do we draw the line to stop those with power of authority from influencing those under their charge? Sometimes it really is the expression of an opinion on an issue and nothing more. I am glad this General was fired. I hope it starts a trend toward restoring the ability of military members to express support and disagreement on issues.
What do you think should be done to protect the rights of civil political discourse for those who serve?
http://www.stripes.com/news/af-general-who-said-protesting-a-10-decision-was-treason-removed-from-post-1.339480

AF general who said protesting A-10 decision was ‘treason’ removed from post

The Air Force general who told airmen that speaking to Congress about plans to retire the A-10 Thunderbolt amounts to treason has left his command position and been reprimanded, the Air Combat Command said Friday.

Sat, 11 Apr 2015 12:49:13 -0400 What should we do with the General who said talking to Congress was "treason"? https://www.rallypoint.com/answers/what-should-we-do-with-the-general-who-said-talking-to-congress-was-treason

In my opinion, the military has flexed its authority muscle against political expression in the ranks too much. No one should be accused of treason for speaking to our bosses (Congress). While it could potentially be inappropriate, it is certainly not treason. His punishment is appropriate. SPC Elijah J. This is what happens when you appoint yes-men to senior leadership positions. When they put political aspirations above troops on the ground, or their own aspirations above the Constitution. Thank God, there was younger leaders who had the balls to stick up to this general and the politicians and came forward. Good job! Liberals you lose. That's a major reason that the army is having issues today. Some one gets their feelings hurt for getting put in their place and next thing you know they cry hazing. In my opinion those guys are committing treason by sabotaging the Army. This general on the other hand is the type of senior leader that gets under my skin. The A-10 has save my ass. Anyone speaking ill of the A10 and promotes one of the less-effective, more-costly options have interests other than the safety of our Soldiers, and the defense of our nation, at heart. And one Day someone comes and tells him it is time to retired the one of the best tools in your tool box . This person is not even a mechanic . You don't think you would have something to say about it ? I know if it is me I will throw a fit ! I would call them names too!
