We were swift to respond in the 30's-40's with the persecution of the Jews, have we lost our sensibilities for the plight of this particular group of people to be selfish in our own affairs? It seems we have opened the flood gates for one group but closed the window for the other group.

Déjàvu....then catastrophic attacks happen on our soil at Pearl Harbor.....and again on 9-11.....we cover our eyes today and pretend it is not happening, while the max exodus from Syria and other parts brings with the honest good people those few infiltrators.....blinders are for working horses and mules to plow fields back home in eastern KY, not for use in foreign policy.

Good question, the part that stands out for me is the middle east? I am a devote Christian and yes we are suppose to be our brothers keeper but aren't we already spreading ourselves thin?

You might want to read "The Insanity of God" for a true story about the effects of persecution on Christians. God is alive and well, reaching out and touching unbelievers in miraculous ways. Yes, persecution is terrible..anywhere. On the other hand, Christians, at least in the US, can walk up to anyone and share the reasons for their faith...but most don't.

For starts the POTUS should use his bully pulpit to make it clear the USA supports the religious minorities throughout the Middle east and North Africa on the open airwaves. Behind the scenes the State Department and other agencies should do what they can to aid the religious minorities. Obviously the most important part is for believers to pray, especially those who have faith, for our brothers and sisters in the faith that they may live peaceful and quiet lives.
