Im prior service (11B) headed to Fort LW to reclass to 74D. I know I have a few days in reception once I get there, I assume during that time I'll get uniforms, medical, paperwork stuff out of the way. But after all of that, has anyone gone through this that can shed some light on the atmosphere in AIT. I went through OSUT at Ft. Benning so I have no idea what the AIT life is like. <br /><br />Also any pointers or tips for a new 74D in the near future? I have a background as a Firefighter and we were required to be Hazmat Ops so I have a bit of knowledge in the field, but anything extra helps. <br /><br />Thanks for all the pointers, this site has been great in helping me chose and navigate everything coming at me as a re-enlisted.Response by SPC(P) Private RallyPoint Member made Jan 6 at 2018 11:49 PM2018-01-06T23:49:54-05:002018-01-06T23:49:54-05:00SPC Jeremey Clifton3233932<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>Why? Is the real question. After being a 74D and it being absolutely obsolete with no reason for having this MOS, it was a complete waste of time. I never did my job in the army. I was deployed as an MP did my time as a grunt and then was an admin guy doing nothing in an office. I was L5 FOX certified but never did anything with them.Response by SPC Jeremey Clifton made Jan 7 at 2018 1:18 AM2018-01-07T01:18:53-05:002018-01-07T01:18:53-05:00PV2 Private RallyPoint Member3234217<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>I just recently graduated AIT and went to L6 trading after you're going in as mos-t it's not to bad AIT was pretty much structured college just study for hazmat that was the big thing that got alot of people in both companies other than that caffeine will be your friend there are alot of power points and alot of note takingResponse by PV2 Private RallyPoint Member made Jan 7 at 2018 6:58 AM2018-01-07T06:58:52-05:002018-01-07T06:58:52-05:00SPC Private RallyPoint Member3234511<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>Sorry for your going thereResponse by SPC Private RallyPoint Member made Jan 7 at 2018 9:46 AM2018-01-07T09:46:08-05:002018-01-07T09:46:08-05:00SPC Private RallyPoint Member3234513<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>Hey i know a few 74d i csn get u incontact with themResponse by SPC Private RallyPoint Member made Jan 7 at 2018 9:46 AM2018-01-07T09:46:31-05:002018-01-07T09:46:31-05:00PFC Private RallyPoint Member3235341<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>I graduated from ait as a 74D from flw this past October. This is an isolated place, but it is awesome too. I am not sure, as a Soldier in training if you will appreciate the awesomeness. Of course, being a Private in training is always fun, so take a deep breath and use your skills to help others. Just a bunch of classes and you will always have your pro mask on your hip. But almost never wear it. I got into MOP4 maybe three times. And one time was for the live chemical environment. CDTF? I forget the name. But overall easy. Hardest part was the hazmat classes. So pay attention. If re classing is like AIT, you'll be fine.Response by PVT Private RallyPoint Member made Jan 9 at 2018 12:26 AM2018-01-09T00:26:18-05:002018-01-09T00:26:18-05:00CPL David Bent3265881<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>You should expect to learn how to wash a lot of vehicles with soap and water and wear old school chemical gear for hours and then be the only person in your unit that has the 74D so you end up being an outcast.Response by CPL David Bent made Jan 17 at 2018 11:17 AM2018-01-17T11:17:55-05:002018-01-17T11:17:55-05:00SSG Private RallyPoint Member3337280<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>A lot of class work plus hands on, the instructors know their stuff.
