Myself and at least 3 other SM (lower enlisted) have all submit and received accepted DA 4187 for assignment deletion. However, after being accepted HRC extends our DEROS dates but does not remove our assignment.

The guys and myself have talked to everyone from our BC to our Branch Managers. BC has us resubmit, with repeated results. Branch says there is nothing in the system. We don’t know what to do and we are all stuck overseas.

Please help. who can we talk to, what should we do? It’s not just one of us it’s a group but we are all only e-4 so civilians and hrc etc won’t listen.

Just because they accepted a document does not mean it woulda be approved. Assignment deletions are a big deal with far reaching ramafications. They have a direct impact on readiness, the reasoning has to be sound and an absolute necessity. In most cases it is easier to get a deferment than a deletion. To compound the issue, you are in low density MOS.

If you COC is informed, you have been denied and are on a regular assignment, your reasons were t compelling enough, you do the tour.

Since your reason for deletion wasn’t posted, all else appears appropriate.

Sorry I meant to say that our deletion requests came back as approved— not accepted. My reason is to extend in my unit because we provide data/voice to the Division cdr as a 12 man team with 6 slots for my mos and only 2 slots filled. Also, everyone except myself and 1 other person is straight out of AIT.

The unit and possibly the division will be in a bad shape soon, but it’s hard to explain all this to the chain once it’s past battalion. (Bed/Div/Hrc)

Thank you though, your post made me realize the scope of my request. I think PCSing is my best/easiest option lol

I assure you, if the unit and or the Division would be ina short fall the Division Commander could ensure he has incoming to replace you and your buddies. Low density MOS are on leadership radars. SPC (Join to see)

From my experience, HRC needs extreme circumstances to delete an assignment. When I attempted, I was essentially told that it’s not impossible, but very improbable.

SPC (Join to see) what makes you think it came back as approved? HRC doesn't send approvals for deletions, they just delete it

SFC (Join to see) the 4187 was a 60 day deros extension and deletion of assignment, to allow SM to submit a 12 month deros extension (can’t do that while on AI).

S1 Showed me an email from hrc saying approved my 4187. Attached was my approved 4187. I have the document, but nothing changed.

The day it was approved, my projections just got pushed back

SPC (Join to see) I answered what happened and why you were never eligible to delete your assignment in a separate thread here.

OK so this is what happened:
1. You have to understand that everything OCONUS is DEROS driven and you cannot be within six months of your DEROS and not be on assignment.
2. The needs of the Army overrule the needs of your unit. Your units need to fill your slot is significantly less important than the need for a FORSCOM unit to fill a slot for a deploying unit.

What you were trying to do was do an FSTE to stay in Korea. What you ended up doing was asking for a deletion. You can't just delete while you're OCONUS, your DEROS drives the date you have to be on assignment. You're not eligible to request an FSTE once you are on assignment, your branch has to put you on assignment NLT 6 months from DEROS. You don't have a valid reason to request a deletion. As I stated above, HRC decides who needs a 25N1 the most and they determined that your gaining unit had a greater need, someone else will he on assignment to fill your spot. Korea has a lot of turnover, that's just part of the tour.

As for changing your AI, your AI is being placed on assignment. You don't have your orders because you haven't turned in your levy packet to get your orders. You are 100% "on orders" when you have an AI. The fact you don't have physical orders yet is on you.

It's not that HRC isn't listening to you, your report date was adjusted. You're just asking for something that is not supported and something you were not qualified to ask for. Once you came on assignment you were no longer eligible to request an FSTE to stay in Korea longer. Your branch manager is not authorized to change your assignment. At this point, the closest thing that could change that is if your Commanding General personally requests an operational deletion. But this close to your DEROS and the fact your unit isn't deploying means his request would be denied
