Scott Losey a County Veterans Affairs director shakes down veterans. Takes their money to assist and we wonder why "we" don't trust the VA. This is another example of people entrusted to take care of the nations veterans. Apparently he doesn't remember a damn thing from his service, if he in fact did serve. Selfless Service not Selfish and despicable service.

There are some really despicable people out there. People who stoop to this level deserve just about anything which gets done to them.

What I'd like to do is kick his ass, but since I can't, fire, prosecute to the fullest extent, make full restitution, and do everything possible to make sure he never holds a job in the future where he is placed in a position of trust.

He should be familiar with typical punishment under the ucmj. Half months pay until his debt is paid and seperated/ fired plus whatever civilian courts decide.

I realize what I am about to say may have nothing to do with this topic but because it relates to ex-servicemen I want to make this comment. I remember being stationed at Fort Bragg and when I would come and go from there and I would deal with a lot of retired military people and I found out many of them ripped the poor little privates off. There were and still are many predators out there capitalizing off of the military. I have had active sergeants loan money at a high interest rate, warning to all that the dishonest person is everywhere in all ranks.

I would have preferred to put him in a room with the vets and family but that would not restore what he took, provide true satisfaction for them and probably result in the vets and family being incarcerated which would not be right. He should be made to pay back his ill gotten gains AND be denied any position of trust in the future. I would almost say life imprisonment is probably the right sentence AFTER restitution is made in full!

Thanks for bringing this story to light for the community. I'm here in the Phoenix, AZ VA region and these stories do not surprise me anymore. My problem with the VA has been the system, not any one individual; but this person is just vile.

Another poll with no one choice to choose that says it all...

I actually like the first two, but I would not choose ONE of them over another, but BOTH of them in addition to some jail time.

BTW, this makes me trust or distrust the VA no more or less. this is the actions of ONE twisted individual.. It has nothing to do with the institution, which has real enough troubles without trying to assign an individual's lack of morel behavior to the institution as a whole.

This guy reflects on the VA no more than one bad cop who lies to get an arrest, one bad firmen that is an arsonist, one bad DA that withholds evidence or one bad soldier that murders innocent civilians

This is freakin' disgusting! My first question would be, did he break the law? Please don't assume I have any compassion for this douche, I am just wondering if they can prosecute him. It sickens me to hear about people taking advantage of my brothers and sisters. I would love to pay him a visit...should only need about 10 minutes of his time. Unfortunately, that is not a possibility, so I hope whatever that can be done legally to him is done with maximum penalty.

I chose the first option that he should pay his victims back but he should also be charged with fraud, tried and hopefully convicted. Part of his sentence can be helping homeless vets under strict supervision and spend time in the slammer. He is disgrace and brings discredit to people who actually are attempting to help veterans through legitimate means.

Scott Losey should be criminally prosecuted and charged with embezzlement. He does not work for VA either. He works in a public office at the county level. Give him a quick and speedy trial, then throw him in the slammer. I work for VA. To all of my fellow veterans out there, DO NOT pay for vet services anywhere. The information is out there and it is free. Go to http://www.benefits.va.gov/compensation/ and browse just like you do anything else on the internet. Be patient too. I've had to wait for my claim to be processed just like everyone else. We have to help ourselves. If you are going to file a claim, read every bit of information on the Form 526EZ and do exactly what it says. You are helping yourself move through the process faster. Gather everything and give it to VA all at once. If you're lazy or ignorant, then find the nearest DAV, VFW or American Legion office to ask for help. Believe me! There are many people out there who truly care about veterans.

Thank you for posting this; in a time when Veterans have made leaps regarding the care that we receive, the benefits that we are awarded, and the overall coverage (media) over the past few years, we can't expect that it all will be positive.

The ground work that the WWII - current Veterans have done in order to achieve the level of care and benefits we currently have is going to be laden with coat tail thieves, lurking in the dark predators, and more so...Wolves in Sheep's clothing!

When the pool of money is so large, it will continue to attract such deviates as those who have been brought to justice in the past, and who now, Mr. Scott Losey has been brought to the surface; and in my mind will be brought to justice.

What should happen to him isn't up to me, those of you who know or have read my prior postings regarding these deviates, I usually state how tired I am of hearing things like this happen to our brothers and sisters; but nonetheless, justice will prevail...We may be known as the 1%(ers), but that is a monumental number when you look at our numbers...which can't be ignored.

CW4 Robert Goldsmith was the only person to really mention that this asswipe doesn't work for VA (for once we can't blame VA on this one). He works for the county. Each county generally has a Veteran Service Officer who is there to help county residents with anything regarding military benefits (from VA to GI Bill to VA Home Loans to Burial). Those that I have had the opportunity to work with have been very respectful and diligent in their work. BUT, there are scum like this guy who needs to be prosecuted and put in prison. When/If he gets out, then his probation should be working at homeless shelters that cater to veterans. Make him see what pain people like him cause.
