Joni Ernst could be a good addition. I was not a big fan until I saw the people who opposed her. If those groups felt the need to attack her, she must have been doing something right?

Really only time will tell but I doubt there is going to be any major differences between them and their non-veteran opponents.

I'm all for it provided they remember to represent veterans well, and don't take any crap from non-serving politicians and lobbyists. I'd also appreciate it if they could avoid party-line politics, but I understand that sometimes you have to play the game. Regardless, standing up for what's right and doing right by veterans and the military, that's what I'd expect from them. I'm particularly referring to Tammy Duckworth taking on some embezzling contractor in a Senate hearing. Regardless of her party affiliation, that was just flat-out cheer-worthy. I wanna give her a hug for that.

I am hoping that with more Veterans now in Congress that they will stop trying to strip of benefit that we all have earned by serving our Country. We have done so much more to earn the life time benefit than many of those in Congress have done to get theirs when they leave office. We put out lives on the line to defend the Freedoms that the people of this Nation take for granted way to often, even if people in Congress, Supreme Court, and the President of the United States keep trying to erode them. Freedom isn't free, we are the one who are called upon to pay for the price in our blood when it needs to be defended. So we need someone in Congress who will be looking out for our interest and not for all those other Special Interest Groups that are looking for their kickbacks (aka loopholes so as to not pay taxes).

I sure hope we get some more veterans into congress. Lord knows we don't need anymore lawyers or career politicians.

Not enough, but we need all we can get. We need those that understand to a degree the service member's call and also what their family is going through as well. We all give and gave up so very much for our country. Most politicians only know corruption because they are the corrupt. We need to have some folks there that have at lest been exposed to things like Honor, Trust, Respect, Courage and Commitment.

It's always good to see veterans join the ranks of the Senate and the House. And you also hope they are good for veteran issues. But I also hope they are true to their constituents that got them elected. And hope they do not get beat down by the system to comply with the status quo. Ted Cruz gets hammered from both sides for bucking the system and standing for what he believes. Whether you agree or disagree with his tactics it is something you should like to see from all in Congress instead of towing the party line. Yes some will not like what I just said but don't miss the point I was trying to make. Not trying to start a war of words or ideas. But the system has a way of pushing those with different minds to the back of the pack and out of sight. Where they can't do no harm to the precious good old boy network. So my hope is someone like Joni Ernst or Tom Cotton (two Iraq war vets) or any of the other 20 elected this year stand and make a difference. And don't change what you believe in or stand for regardless of party. Stand and be heard and do not be silenced.
