What's your opinion of jury duty?

I was called a few years ago. They do not like teachers on juries. I did not get selected.

Yes it's a civic duty, but.... The lawyers lean towards stupid (read that as swayable, play on emotions, etc.) and toss intellect as they actually follow the judge's instructions. I was tossed from an asbestos suit because I was an engineer, hence had a brain. Funny the juror pool was very large. Had this early '20s black leather with silver studs everywhere type next to me. When we were asked if anyone knew anybody up there, she raised her hand. "I know you Judge. You're the SOB that sent my boyfriend to prison!" Immediately excused. She whispered to me that it got her out of an abusive relationship. Life goes on.

It is our duty as citizens. If you don't participate, don't complain about the sorry shape of our courts.

I believe it's our duty. I was called last year and wasn't selected. All other times i received notices i was overseas.

Been called to Jury duty the month after I retired. Did not wind up serving on any case.

Did serve on 2 courts marshals while on active duty.

It si a responsibility to not be taken lightly.

It's a civic duty but I'll have to agree with CAPT Kevin B.. Seems that most of the intelligent and life experienced people are eliminated fairly quick from the pool.
