What's your favorite monument or statue?

A few years ago I was walking to a new client in NYC down by the Freedom Tower and, behind a construction fence, something caught my eye -- the America's Response Memorial. It was in a holding area until it could be placed in its permanent location.

It immediately stopped me in my tracks. Anyone who walked those sidewalks during that construction knows it was a human river. I walked over, closer to the fence, and just stared at it. It was beautiful and honoring.

For the next few weeks, as I worked for that client in NYC, I left my hotel early each morning and stopped to appreciate it and consider all that it represented. It became my favorite memorial.

SGT Mark Halmrast There are many great memorials. I will list three that I have not seen, but want to:

1. Iwo Jima Memorial
2. The Vietnams Veteran Memorial Wall - I have seen the Moving Wall
3. The Arizona Memorial

It is more a tour of History than a monument (although some are along the way) or a statue (The Same) "The Freedom Trail" in Boston, I grew up there and had many opportunities to walk the "Red Bricks"

That could become one of my new favorites. However, the Lincoln Memorial in Washington and the Memorial to George Washington in Baltimore (the first honoring Washington) will never be replaced in my heart. The Washington in Baltimore because I grew up with it and the Lincoln in Washington because it is so profoundly moving. The artist who sculpted Lincoln sitting in a chair captured the spirit of that troubled soul whose will alone kept America from splitting asunder. I cannot imagine the doubts he must have felt nor the agony that the entire war rested on his conscience, but the face depicted on that statue clearly symbolizes it

That is a good picture of that monument SGT Mark Halmrast. Sadly I've never had the opportunity to see any of our great National Monuments. Maybe some day. Thanks for sharing.

Have a few favorites: Mount Rushmore, South Dakota; Stone Mountain, Georgia; and the cluster of them in Washington, DC (The Wall, Washington Monument, Lincoln Memorial, etc).

My favorite monument is the one of the U.S. Marines raising the American flag
on top of Mount Suribachi on the island of Iwo Jima in 1945.

I only been to one, Mount Rushmore, South Dakota, I know that there a many good ones. But Guam being 7,195 miles from the US, all the monuments are just a click away. "Internet"

I have a couple, First the Vietnam Wall / Memorial for obvious reasons. But back home in Ohio we have The President Rutherford B Hayes Memorial and Park as well as Commodore Perry's Memorial and Put in Bay, Ohio.

My favorite monument which I have visited is at Trafalgar Square in London SGT Mark Halmrast. The last I visited it was in 1983.
In this nation my favorite monuments, that I have visited, are the Statue of Liberty, the Lincoln Memorial and many monuments at my Alma Mater West Point including Trophy Point
1. Trafalgar Square honors Admiral Lord Horatio Nelson for his role in the Napoleon War naval battle against the French and Spanish at The Battle of Trafalgar on 21 October 1805.
2. Trophy Point is the location of Battle Monument, one of the largest columns of granite in the world. Designed by architect Stanford White and dedicated in 1897,[1] Trophy Point was formerly the site of West Point graduation ceremonies before the class sizes became larger in the mid-twentieth century.
Trophy Point gets its name from the numerous displayed pieces of captured artillery spanning from the Revolutionary War to the Spanish–American War.
