Whats wrong with us as a people when we riot over the wrongful death of a man that is by all accounts a drug dealer and user even though he should not have died yet the same people that raised the hate level in America have said ZERO about a Police Officer and hero that was Killed in the line of duty by a thug?? does anyone feel like we are treated the same by people like Sharpton as the Police officer? I feel like people like that care about as much about us veterans as they do about police...NOTHING

I would like everyone to read this: Quote of the Century"
The danger to America is not Barack Obama but a citizenry capable of entrusting a manlike him with the Presidency. It will be far easier to limit and undo the follies of an Obama Presidency than to restore the necessary common sense and good judgement to a depraved electorate willing to have such a man for president. The problem is much deeper and far more serious than Mr Obama, who is a mere symptom of what ails America. Blaming the prince of the fools should not blind anyone to the vast confederacy of fools that made him their prince. The Republic can survive Barack Obama, who is after all, merely a fool. It is less likely to survive a multitude of fools such as those who made him their president

There you have it folks.

Well, being a drug user doesn't devalue this man's life. He still shouldn't have been killed by police. Every life matters. A man is innocent until proven guilty. There aren't degrees of death and there aren't degrees of innocence. People are protesting because our police force is brutalizing and murdering people. It doesn't matter if its black people or white people getting killed. The fact is that our police force kills more Americans than terrorism and utterly terrifies an entire demographic. That's what people are peacefully protesting.
I think the looters are just assholes looking to take advantage of a situation. But the people in Baltimore aren't any worse than Ohio State fans that burned a town. Jerks will be jerks.
Take NY for example:
In 2004, New Yorkers were stopped by the police 313,523 times.
278,933 were totally innocent (89 percent).
155,033 were black (55 percent).
89,937 were Latino (32 percent).
28,913 were white (10 percent).
152,196 were aged 14-24 (52 percent).
The police actually violated the Fourth Amendment rights of more black people than there are blacks in the city. It was clearly race based. That's why they're protesting.
In my town of Charleston, the Police pulled over more black residents than there are black drivers in the town. You'd need to count the children and the elderly to make the numbers work out more favorably. Last month an officer shot a man in the back for running away. And then planted evidence. That's why people are protesting.
No one wants to increase racial tension. To be honest, I hate that this has even turned into a race debate - it's a personnel issue. But we need to look at these situations differently. See them for what they are. There are parts of Columbia, SC that I refuse to even drive through. My wife is white, ask her what it feels like to be stopped over and over and over. What it feels like to fear for your life when blue lights flash. I now keep my ruck sack in the front seat permanently. I believe it's saved my life a few times.
If the numbers weren't so obviously racially biased, sharks like Al Sharpton wouldn't have anything to crow about.

Although I agree with your points on the number of pullovers I'm not sure I agree with the point that the police force kills more Americans than terrorism. For 2013 Police killed something like 124 black men nation wide and a similar number of white although higher, yet black men killed 9000 other black men in the same year. I am sorry I dont have the numbers of white killing white but I'm sure more whites are killed by more whites. What bugs me is Sharpton said zero about the murder of a police officer that by all accounts was a hero. That same Sharpton says zero about us Vets that die for America, nor does he say a word about the Vets that die by there own hand because the VA doesnt seem to care about us. Did you know that the New York Times couldnt even find room on the front page of that rag newspaper to mention the death of a police officer? These are the things that bother me. The lumping of an entire profession because of a few bad cops. How would you feel if America lumped the US Military into one lump because of one deserter? As for the 6 officers, They are innocent until proven guilty but people like Sharpton and others have them convicted already. Like Hands Up, Dont Shoot...NEVER Happened. It was all a lie. We deserve honesty from the news media, NOT someones opinion based on his political views. All the people that judge a police officers job need to recall what its like to go door to door in Iraq. In some cities it was safer in Iraq than it is for police officers here.

I agree, I'm not a Sharpton fan. I think he's scum and I loathe when he gets involved in things. He instantly turns a whole section of america against whatever issue he's pimping.
The issue isn't blacks killing blacks or whites killing whites. Those people are murderers should go to jail. But you’re '55 Times More Likely to be Killed by a Police Officer' than a Terrorist. Police officers go out of their way to encounter minorities through racial profiling (for good or for ill). Then they're more likely to gun down an American. Logic follows that more blacks are going to die. I'll post a link to a Post article. But anyone can look up the statistics. I don't support killing police officers. It's disgusting. They have a tough job. But, chances are that if I die in Lexington, SC, it'll be a police officer that shot me.
So I keep my ass out of Lexington, SC. A black deputy told me to avoid the area. I had to be pulled over 4 times before I sought out a different Monkey Joes to take my kids to.

Well I cant argue with the article that says your 55 times more likely but lets set the scene. IF all americans where in Iraq, dont you think that would be reversed? Americans arent exposed to terrorist on a daily basis like they are with cops.
And Im sorry anyone feels like they have to stay away from parts of a town, but trust me i know the feeling. Try being a Sailor in Norfolk at the end of Viet Na. They use to have signs for Sailors to stay off the grass. Treated us like dogs. Try being in the Navy at Great Lakes Naval Training Center in 1975 and 1976. Those people around the base hated us with a passion.

I have to agree with some of that. After a fishing trip we took my brother-in-laws friend back home. Downtown black section of Dallas. My brother-in-law ws to drunk to drive, so I was driving. On the way out a cop stopped us.He asked why I did not dim my headlights. I told him it was not my car and I could not find the dimmer swirch, SINCE I WAS WHITE, HE LET US GO WHEN WE COULD HAVE GOTTEN A DWI HAND DOWN. HE WAS SURPRISED I WAS WHITE. PROFILING, I THINK SO. They are out there (the crazies).

PO2 Mark Saffell Over the last 5 years or so, I have paid increasing attention to violence and death perpetrated by police against citizens. I have also paid close attention over that same time frame to the militarization of the police force. I have seen more than a few videos of cops shooting someone for absolutely ridiculous reasons... videos of cops killing people's pets... killing innocent people on no-knock raids, only to find that the cops then investigate and magically determine that the cops did nothing wrong.
Cops have no constitutional duty to protect you.
http://www.nytimes.com/2005/06/28/politics/28scotus.html?_r=0
Cops regularly engage in asset forfeiture (google that term and read some of the horror stories), they have unspoken quotas for tickets... they are revenue generators. Period.
A former district attorney for Turner County informed me that along a stretch of I-75 near Ashburn, the county sheriffs and police write between 1,150 and 1,500 tickets each month. They TARGET people with out of state license plates because they realize those people likely won't return to fight the ticket in court. They will cite the speed at 86 mph regardless of the actual speed. The out of stater will simply pay the $300 ticket thinking it's over. But 86mph makes one guilty of breaking GA's Super Speeder law, and subject to an additional $200 fine. The poor victim won't be notified of this fine until 30-60 days after they paid the original ticket.
Do the math: An average of 1,325 tickets per month at $300 per ticket... That's $4,770,000 each year for the county... a rural GA county. If half of those super speeder fines pay out as intended (and the percentage was closer to 78%), then the state gets $1,591,200 per year from this one county on one stretch of one interstate in the state of GA. And I'm just sure none of that haul gets kicked back to the county. No sir. That would be unethical. It would make it look like a theft partnership between the state and the county...
Perhaps we should reevaluate our views regarding the police in this country. My current primary concern is this "scared for my life" defense in the use of deadly force. I've seen some videos where the cop who was scared for his life shot a suspect who was running away from him. This is utter cowardice.

I think you're missing the point. They don't believe they should, but where you think that's reprehensible, they think they are justified because of the overall violence inflicted upon them by the Baltimore Police system.

And what about the violence they inflict on themselves. Like the 8 black on black murders this week or the 76 this year? How would you like to be a police officer sent into that war zone without the support of the community or the right to protect yourself?

Are these people forced to take jobs as police officers? Are they conscripting cops now? Did the cops only take the job believing they would have the unfettered support of 'good Americans' and could wear that as a shield while they performed their duties? Like the crab fishermen in Alaska (one of the most dangerous jobs on earth), and like the Navy SEAL, Army Ranger and Green beret, Marine Force Recon, Air Force Pararescuemen, Combat Controllers and TAC-P and every branches EOD professional, no one forced them to take the job. But taking the job does not entitle them to usurp the law, or to more of our respect without regard to what they do while wearing the uniform. And what the hell do you mean "no right to protect yourself?" Not to make light of it, but these days you can fart in a cop's general direction, he can shoot you in the back and then claim he feared for his life. Case closed. Don't kid yourself. It's the people who have no right to defend themselves. If a cop in uniform came up behind me and attacked me for shits and giggles, and I attempted to defend myself, I would likely get killed. And the cop would most likely get off.
As far as violence that people inflict on themselves, this is an important sociological lesson, IMO. Baltimore is a liberal city with liberal policies and high taxes. That should be telling for people who believe that the best way to elevate the less fortunate is to take from people who have more.
I wouldn't like to be a police officer. I have an above-average IQ and understand that the work environment isn't conducive to my survival or the well-being of my family. This doesn't make me a coward. It just demonstrated my rationality and ability to make sound decisions.

Although i agree with some of your reply, I dont agree Cops are allowed to defend themselves as much as you make out. Ask the 150 hurt from thrown rocks in Baltimore. Also you tend to lump ALL police officer into one bad group. Sould us Vets also be lumped into one bad group because of a deserter or because of other bad acts performed by some military people? Did you see the CNN Reporter says that the problem with police officers now days is because Vets come back from Iraq and just want to keep on killing? Really?? Are you kidding me and is that OK to lump all Vets as want to be killers of innocent people?

I put a lot of the blame on the Obama administration and the Department of Justice and there lack of leadership and support of law enforcement. What ever happened to innocent until proven guilty? The six officers in Baltimore have been rendered guilty, but yet no one has been able to provide any evidence. It was strictly a political move.

They weren't found guilty. There hasn't been a trial. They have just been charged with the crimes that there is evidence for.

It's local law enforcement, and that's not Obama's realm. Why would you blame the president for something that is a local issue? One minute people are offended by government overstep and the next they're blaming the government for not overstepping. Pick a position.
Seriously, I can not think of a single way that this went down according to regulation and policy. I've given them the benefit of the doubt. But assuming the laws of physics still apply in Baltimore, these guys have zero defense. They took him for no valid reason. they didn't follow protocols. They either injured him or allowed him to be injured. At the worst its negligence homicide. At worse, they meant to hurt him and he surprised them all by dying. Oops.
If i don't buckle my baby into a car seat and he dies in a car accident, guess who's going to jail?
