Having the last name 'Beaver,' I must admit I've heard just about every beaver joke out there. I am proud of my name but am aware of the humor that might ensue when I finally reach O-4. Roger. Got it. Haha. Ahem. Okay. So what's the oddest (or unfortunate?) name you ever heard?

The oddest name I saw was a teller at a race track in Tucson Arizona in the '50s.

His name was Prospector Mule.

When someone said that he had a remarkable name, he bristled a bit and said "We pronounce it "Moolay".

Also, in Tucson when I was in school there was a Dr. Fee.

We had a married couple of Sergeants named Major in my last unit. It made for some interesting times when people were looking for them since neither the BN nor the BDE CSM's were on our installation. "Hey have you seen the SGT's Major? " Usually followed by a stare of pure horror...

There was a Vietnamese guy I knew on the Nimitz whose last name was Ho. "Hey Ho!" "What's up Ho?"

I knew another guy on the Nimitz whose last name was Mycock. I was TAD (TDY in Army/Air Force speak) to the ship's security detachment and we had to process him one night due to a custody turnover from Base Police. Regulation said that we treated everybody professionally and called them by rank.

None of us could bring ourselves to say "Airman Mycock" so we called him by his first name.

I was speaking with him a few months later and I asked him what kind of comebacks he had for when people made fun of his name. His go to? "Gee so-and-so, "Mycock" sure seems to come out of your mouth a lot!"

There was yet another guy on the Nimitz who was part of the Air Wing (so not ship's company) whose first name was Mickey and last name was Mouse. You read that right, Petty Officer Mickey Mouse.

I was standing a security watch and checking ID's when I first met him. He showed me his ID and I of course did a double take.

I actually had to "detain" him while I investigated further. It turned out to not be a joke, that was his real name.

I talked to him a few months later and he was getting his first name legally changed to Michael. Not because of the inevitable jokes, but because he couldn't get a security clearance based solely on his name!

Back in AIT we had a Pvt Fightmaster, probably the coolest name i've seen yet, and in my last unit we had a Pfc Major, and we are all desperatley waiting for him to make E-5. I have met a real life 2lt Dick and a Spc Crunch who has no desire to be an officer, sadly. Thats about all for me though, mostly coincidental, not absurd.

The coolest name I've ever seen was a little over a decade ago. I was creating new computer accounts and came across a request from a guy named Rodrake EA. Last name pronounced "yeah".

I've also seen 2 Capt Hooks and one LtCol Paine (just missed him when he was Maj).

I feel sorry for Mr. Trickle. His name sounds like something you need an antibiotic and an ointment to get rid of.

When I was growing up their was a girl who had the unfortunate name Dorkus. My step son is named Peter, his last name is Gay. He took an unending amount of hazing in high school for that.

Any way, the boy would be James (NMN) Junior
But the girl would be Sanjauana-Moniquie Delashondre
