You will only get an offer if someone leaves and there is no one available to transfer in to the position. There is a small window of opportunity to get chosen; you have to be at the top of the selection list, have to need your MOS, have to need have a position in the unit... lots of factors and very few positions. I'm right there with you; its a long waiting game. In fact, it's one of the 12 SFC MOS specialties designated for QMP boards in 2015.

I'd recommend switching to 92Y, or at least becoming Property Book/Unit Supply Enhanced (PBUSE) qualified.

http://www.armytimes.com/story/military/careers/army/enlisted/2015/01/07/qualitative-service-board/21399747/ Response by CW4 Guy Butler made Dec 21 at 2015 6:34 AM 2015-12-21T06:34:09-05:00 2015-12-21T06:34:09-05:00 SSG Audwin Scott 1189457

Good luck on that, someone pretty much has to die to get a slot. Your mos is a big one. 92A is pretty low density. Mostly at bn or bgd leval for trans and supply units. You may be a tpu in a motorpool but the 91X handles all the day to day work. Next is your ncoer. If you have a recent needs improvement that will not help. NCOES is a huge factor since money is involved. It costs a lot of money to send an AGR to ALC since we go to active duty schools. Your GT is only going to play a role for 79V/R. If your able to try and take the ASVAB rather then the AFQT. The ASVAB is based on a tenth grad level while the latter is based on 12.9. Another great method is applying for a WLC slot. Those units can still direct hire for the right Soldier. The commandant usually sends your packet to HRC and requests a hire however that doesn't help your long range plan which should be key challenging positions that make you competitive for promotions. Some one mentioned 92Y and I highly discourage that. They didn't promote to E7 for three years (or so I've been told). The beat advice that I've seen on here so far has been from SGM Curry... Get the GT up and apply for 79V if your up to the challenge. You could also apply for WLC and then work on the GT and take the test again prior to your first PCS and switch to a 79cmf for a more intant route. Good luck!
