What's the difference between not allowing our enemies burn our flag, while we let people burn it in the United States?

When out enemies burn or disrespect our flag we go apeshit. But when our own people do it, we don't even bat an eye? Why aren't people getting arrested for this? Why are they getting away with such disrespect? So many people have died to defend the flag that they step on and this is the way that we are repaid? What's the difference between us and them?

People didn't die to protect the Flag. They died to protect what the Flag Symbolizes. The Flag is a thing. It's an embodiment of our Nation.

People died for what our Nation represents, and simply put that is Freedom. Not just the good Freedoms, but the bad Freedoms too. Although I dislike it (understatement) when People treat the flag as merely a thing, rather than a Living Symbol of our Nation, I realize People sacrificed so that those People could do exactly that.

We don't fight for the Freedoms we like, we fight Freedoms we despise. What you find disrespectful, to others is Protest, Speech, Assembly, all Protected Actions. Those are what we are sworn to Protect. That's what People died for.

Because we don't have to respect the First Amendment rights of any member of I Hate America Clubs, International and are completely free to reward them with new a$$holes center mass of their foreheads at our leisure.

Everyone else we have to put up with by law.

As much as those action disgust me, they are protected expressions of free speech. If we start trying to limit this through legislation we create a dangerous precedent for greater infringements upon free speech. If we go this route, what is next? Arresting people for criticism of the government? If they wish to use their freedom of expression in this way, then there is nothing preventing me from exercising mine in telling them how offensive theors is and how disgusted I am with them.

The supreme court has ruled. I don't have to like it but they have ruled.

If we deny freedom of speech for one we will wind up denying free speech for all.

We can not have freedom for only some of the people.
