Why aren't people getting arrested for this? Why are they getting away with such disrespect? So many people have died to defend the flag that they step on and this is the way that we are repaid? What's the difference between us and them? What's the difference between not allowing our enemies burn our flag, while we let people burn it in the United States?2015-05-21T08:45:30-04:00SGT Private RallyPoint Member685802

When out enemies burn or disrespect our flag we go apeshit. They died to protect what the Flag Symbolizes. The Flag is a thing. It's an embodiment of our Nation.

People died for what our Nation represents, and simply put that is Freedom. Not just the good Freedoms, but the bad Freedoms too. Although I dislike it (understatement) when People treat the flag as merely a thing, rather than a Living Symbol of our Nation, I realize People sacrificed so that those People could do exactly that.

We don't fight for the Freedoms we like, we fight Freedoms we despise. What you find disrespectful, to others is Protest, Speech, Assembly, all Protected Actions. Those are what we are sworn to Protect. If we start trying to limit this through legislation we create a dangerous precedent for greater infringements upon free speech. If we go this route, what is next? Arresting people for criticism of the government?
