Best beer stateside and the best beer you've ever had (can also be stateside as well).

Since I've never left the states, right now I'm drinking Quilters Irish Death Dark Smooth Ale.... And holy shit batman, this is some good beer... Little pricey, but definitely worth it

I'm Partial to Boulevard a Kansas City Kansas Staple that comes from the Mexican part of town but I also like several from Rogue from my other home in Oregon.

In New York hands down Brooklyn Local number 1. Its a Belgium pale ale. The taste is great and it has a nice kick to it. Hands down the best beer i ever tasted coming out of New York.

Excellent question for a Friday SPC(P) Private RallyPoint Member. Because there are so many great beers out there, I like to think about this question regionally and where I tend to travel most often. When I'm in Boston: Harpoon IPA.
San Francisco: Anchor Steam Lager.
Central Coast CA: Lagunitas IPA.
Northern CA: Sierra Nevada Summerfest.
Colorado: Fat Tire 1554 Amber Ale.

Being from Texas, I've always been partial to Shiner's line of beers, but I've been trying varying IPAs in different parts of the country and I have to agree with Capt Brandon Charters, each region usually has a great brew local to the area.

Looping in Mike Pape (RP Staff) as well. I don't know where to start because it's hard for me to judge different beer styles against each other. Also best for drinking and best tasting are a little different imo

Stateside: Shiner bock
Belgium: Grimbergen, Chimay, or Hoegaarden
Germany: Erdinger, or anything blonde
There are a lot of good microbreweries around Oregon and Colorado though.

While I have not sample beers from all of the states, Boulevard Wheat and Third Shift are a few of my favs. As for the best beer I've ever had, that is easy. It is the beer from the Kruetzberg Monastery in Germany.

It's a great time to be a beer drinker! There are so many great craft beers these days. I just had the chance to have Pliny the Elder from Russian River and if you like DIPAs, this is the holy grail. Russian River is also producing some amazing barrel sours if your palette can enjoy sour beers (you should give them a try!). My personal favorites in the US include Siren Noire from Heavy Seas, most beers from Trillium, Brown Shugga' from Lagunitas, and of course my own homebrew! I don't drink too many imports (it's tough to survive the trip and we have great local beers), but some favorites are Rodenbach Grand Cru, Duchesse de Bourgogne, and any good German Pilsner. These days, it's hard to go wrong drinking local and drinking craft.

My favorite all around beer is Shiner bock from the little brewery in Shiner Texas. However, if you ever make it to New Mexico, Alien Amber from the Sierra Blanca Brewing Company is a close second (and it has a cool label).

Beer is like wine or cigars. A great variety of styles and flavors means you can discover what you enjoy most. So it's a matter of trying things out. I do recommend you keep an eye out for any micro breweries out there. They will pop up in the oddest locations. Although I live out in the sticks, our small town has a microbrewery that makes a great stuff and their food is always good. If you get up to Hayden, Idaho, there's a wholly Vet owned/operated/staffed one called Mad Bomber. I keep my eye out for Vet run anything. Enjoy the journey.

The number of craft brewers and microbrewers in VA has exploded over the past 3 years. Just attended a beer fest "Pigwhistle" in Williamsburg two weeks ago...my favorite was a bourbon barrel aged Trippel by Stone Brewing Co, Richmond. The quality and variety available today is awesome!

I am a huge fan of the ommegang beers from New York since I am in Connecticut. Maui brewing makes some great beer in Hawaii, and it only come in cans. I have been drinking Hooker Brewing Oktoberfest, which is the best Oktoberfest In have tried, and Troegs Troegenator tonight. This is the first time I have ever tried a Troegs, and damn is this a good beer. Definitely one of the best doublebocks I have had.

Wow, really subjective,,,but I'd go with the Ipas from Hill Farmstead in Vt. Only available on tap at the brewery and very local as well on tap. They do bottle some limited sours and BA brews. Trillium in Ma is also producing great beers.
