Getting into a flight company can be quick or long. Sometimes it's based on a need for personnel and sometimes it's a need for experience. I've seen privates fresh out of AIT go right to a flight company, and/or experience pulled from Delta Company and slid over. Not all Tangos want to crew believe it or not. So if that's someone's goal, they have to put the effort forward and stand out from their peersResponse by SFC Private RallyPoint Member made Apr 26 at 2017 7:21 AM2017-04-26T07:21:24-04:002017-04-26T07:21:24-04:00SPC Adam Margeson2523242<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>We would have some come strait from AIT to a flight company it just kind of depends on the chain of command if you can get an up slip and some times if you have a security clearanceResponse by SPC Adam Margeson made Apr 26 at 2017 8:10 AM2017-04-26T08:10:29-04:002017-04-26T08:10:29-04:00SSG Private RallyPoint Member2523248<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>I've been in for almost 11 years and the last 4 of those have been as a 15T and I love it. It can be tedious sometimes but it does set you up to get into a pretty good civilian career field or even a transition to the Guard or Reserves. Guard and Reserve units are always looking for full-time maintainers... some places more than others of course. <br /><br />Getting into a flight company can happen quick or it can take a while. It was only a matter of months for me because there was a deployment and they needed Crew Chiefs/Door Gunners. My prior service and deployments as a MP and a Cav Scout helped me get my foot in the door with that because I already had the experience with ROE and all that other business.<br /><br />All in all, it's definitely worth making the switch. Get the time in. Get your A&P certifications. Set yourself up to potentially make big bucks going that route.Response by SSG Private RallyPoint Member made Apr 26 at 2017 8:15 AM2017-04-26T08:15:22-04:002017-04-26T08:15:22-04:00SSG Jesse Piippo2529079<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>Thank you all. I'm thinking about joining a reserve unit in Texas. It's closest to home. I heard the crew chief position is awesome. I will be talking to a recruiter next month.Response by SSG Jesse Piippo made Apr 27 at 2017 9:48 PM2017-04-27T21:48:06-04:002017-04-27T21:48:06-04:002017-04-26T03:25:47-04:00
