There is no single answer that applies to everyone as the response depends on many factors and can be succulently summed up as &quot;it depends&quot;.<br /><br />As it has likely been for you as an drilling Infantry Soldier, what you do on the drill weekend will vary greatly depending on what type of 35-Series MOS you are, what unit you are assigned to, and what the leadership determines are the best use of the time available to address training and readiness requirements.<br /><br />IDT weekends are for training and readiness - basic Soldier skills training, MOS specific training, collective training, individual and unit readiness, etc.<br /><br />One unit might have training for Signals Intelligence Analysts on the fundamentals of electromagnetic waves, another might have their Geospatial Intelligence Imagery Analysts being trained on the latest changes in software while yet another will have their Human Intelligence Collectors going through mock interrogations. <br /><br />Some creative units with operational missions might align training in order to give incidental support to those missions (the primary focus of those IDT Soldiers must be training, but the results of that training may support an ongoing mission).<br /><br />Other units might focus on non-MOS things because the unit has one or more severely deficient readiness areas.<br /><br />Most of the time, it will be largely determined by whatever the unit priorities are.
