We watched old movies about nuclear threats and received booklets with instructions on building Ozzie abd Harriet style fallout shelters. For about six months as a 7th grader I didn't sleep much, worried about the coming nuclear war. And then the made for TV movie "The Day After" seriously creeped me out. But I still occasionally see a Fallout Shelter sign here and there. So, what is a good use for former Fallout Shelters? Because in case of a serious nuclear attack, fallout won't be my main concern. Why did my skull just melt off my shoulders will be what bugs me a bit more. The underground ones are perfect for storm shelters and the basics one would need to get through an emergency.<br /><br />Of course, to spend any time in one, you would want to maker sure it is properly ventilated. A generator would be good too.<br /><br />You might even be able to go full-fledged prepper if it is big enough.... We used our bomb shelter to store food across seasons, it was like a cave, cold but not too cold.
