What rank do I ets with?

If I make e5 while forward with an etp, upon returning to home duty station I only have 30days before I ets and don’t go to school do I get out as an e4? Or do I retain e5?

You ETS with the rank you have orders for and the rank your ETS orders state

my daughter got out as an E5 without going to school. But since you're getting out it doesn't really matter. If at some point in the future you decide to get back in they're probably going to bring you in as an E4 regardless. I got off active duty as an E6 and had an 8 year break in service and had to take a voluntary reduction to E4 to get back in the Guard.

SPC Private RallyPoint Member I picked up E5 on my way out from Active Duty. I got pinned in April and ETSed in July. Retained my E5 and came into the Reserves with my E5. So it is possible you could retain it.

Are you planing on statying in? Cause why do it matter if you are going to ETS?
