My father claimed to have some personal knowledge of the dispute between President Truman and General MacArthur over Korea. He claims that Truman was looking for a political solution, that would hopefully avoid a wider conflict with the People's Republic of China and the Soviet Union. My Father, (not a MacArthur fan) claimed that MacArthur intended to "Piss in the Yalu River" from the Chinese side, on his way to Beijing. My father also said that General MacArthur made veiled references that the American people would be on the side of a full-scale regime to conquer China and reinstall a pro-Western government, and that history would not look kindly upon Truman if he stood in General MacArthur's way.
