What pointers would you give to a prior service guy, who wants to join SF National Guard, before talking to a recruiter?

I joined in 2011 and was selected. Got dropped for sleeping through my alarm in the early ages of the q-school. I didn’t go back then and it’s always been a regret of mine. Was wondering if there was any prior service guys who joined SF national guard? and if you could give me some pointers before I go talk to a recruiter? Thank you

Go and speak directly with a NG recruiter and a Giard SF recruiter as well for guidance. Unless changes, section was good for up to 2 years. But who knows.

In the National Guard you can't just join to be SF. You will have to join the Guard as another MOS and then try out. They had to many issues with Soldiers doing this in the past. SF is a challenge. I thought about a long time ago but I ended up commissioning instead. Keep in mind that not every state has SF. But you should talk to your local NG recruiter to see your options.
