I am undecided about who to vote for in the upcoming mid-term elections at the local, state and federal level and both Congressional or Legislative and gubernatorial. I am interested in understanding the political climate for the elections held later this year. Support your reasons for casting your ballot with fact.

I am a conservative Republican CPT Private RallyPoint Member. In Virginia on June 12, 2018 there is a primary election for Repu8blicans and Democrats.
I plan on voting for E.W. Jackson to be the U.S Senator to replace Tim Kaine.
I am not certain who i will vote for the 10th VA district congressperson. The incumbent is Barbara Comstock and Shak Hill is vying to replace her. I now both of these candidates and I will try to vote strategically. In any event I will vote for the whoever secures the Republican nomination in both races.
BTW in Virginia we have elections every year - Federal elections in even years and Virginia state and local elections in odd years.

I'm staring at my mail in ballot and don't have a clue. None of the GOP candidates will make it onto the ballot in the general election, and all of the Democrats are bat guano crazy ideologues. So, do I vote for the least offensive Democrat or tilt at windmills by voting for the most rational Republican, or just throw my ballot in the trash?

Sorry, but asking for perspective on who to vote for in the political process on RallyPoint is the last place I’d ask.
That’s like asking for an opinion on what color swatch would go best with for a paint scheme in your house. Are you a beige/gray/tope kind of a guy or do you like color? How about a mustard yellow or peach scheme? Or should I just leave it egg shell?
The point I’m trying to make is this. Each state is different and you have local, state, and federal candidates to vote for.
Research what issues are on the ballots. Look at each of the candidates and what they stand for or what they want to get done (or try to get done).
Look at the voting process as a risk management exercise. To me, voting a straight ticket is akin to not doing your due diligence. It’s stupid and asinine.
Now if I only can stop theses aggravating robo calls and mailings in my mailbox!

Many people argue against voting a straight ticket, but most probably do. I cannot envisions most of the conservatives on RP every voting for a liberal, and vice-versa. I would vote for a liberal Republican, but have never seen one.
So, futile as it is here in South Dakota, I will vote Democrat.

Liberals lie worse than conservatives. Liberal lie without shame. Liberals lie and have agendas.
I don’t like hidden agendas.
Conservatives lie, but not as well.
Because they do not lie well they are fairly careful about the lies they do tell.
Conservatives have agendas however, they are usually put out there for all to see.
These are not hard facts as you requested... yet they are facts all the same.

First question is going to be, do they accept money from PACs? If they take PAC money, I refuse to vote for them.

After that the priority is Progressive Independents, Members of 3rd parties, Democrats. The only exception to those rules would happen in local elections where I believed one candidate was significantly more honest than their rival, it's rare however occasionally I even support a Republican for that reason.

Voting for Anti-Nazis. Guess that leaves out any republicans.
