The Fair Tax could eliminate the IRS. Veteran's Tricare Health Insurance could eliminate the VA Health Care. Livable wages with benefits for employees are important to ensure quality employees and low turnover.

The biggest problem with the old airport security system (prior to TSA) was that each airport was responsible for its own security and there were no national standards. Many (most) airports hired minimum wage "mom and pop" security companies (or had their own in-house employees), with no real hiring standards, little to no training, no over-arching federal regulations to follow, no experienced, professional oversight, and on and on. TSA - love them or hate them - at least established standards in all those areas, but, like any other government bureaucracy, they were doomed to fail. A professional private security company could do the job better and in a much less expensive manner. COL Jean (John) F. B. Most, if not all of them are technically unconstitutional, as the responsibilities assigned to the federal government are few and limited. It is the state governments that SHOULD bear the burden of regulating things within their own borders, NOT the federal government. That's why we have the 10th Amendment.

As for the TSA: what a colossal waste of money and resources, and it's not even an effective agency. How many terrorists have been caught by the TSA versus how many of their ranks have been arrested/convicted of theft from passenger luggage? Also, the Garland, TX Police Department have stopped more terrorists than the TSA. Just sayin'...

I have been through airports that still use contract security, and the difference is huge. The security personnel are friendly and professional, and the time to get through security is minimal. Why is all that? Because they realize they are in a SERVICE position and can be FIRED if they screw it up. What I do think is there should be a government wide review of every single agency and program. Eliminate unnecessary or redundant ones. Cut where it needs to be cut and beef up where it's needed. I like the idea of a right sized government. Small where it should be and big where it should be. It all depends on what part one looks at. SGT David T. None. Privatizing government functions has always resulted in costing the government more than was saved by eliminating "fraud and abuse". If you don't believe me, look at all the privatization going on in the military. SGT Edward Wilcox Wed, 01 Jun 2016 11:00:56 -0400 2016-06-01T11:00:56-04:00 2016-05-31T23:23:44-04:00
