I have a job with good health insurance. So I guess his two terms didn't affect me much.....other than going to war.

I can honestly say I don't think he had any affect on my life. I am not sure he was good for the military however.

For me personally, I would say my overall income has gone down, the cost of consumer goods have skyrocketed (and no ground beef is not the same as steak), gang and drug crimes have gone through the roof, race relations and overall civility are the worst they've been in my adult life. However their is plenty of cheap Mexican labor around to work on the house and for good or bad without Obama we wouldn't have Donald Trump as the next President.

I had to change careers thanks to Obama's job creations of part time work so that employers did not have to comply with ACA. It was a blessing because I found a career that I will retire from. I only about starved to death for about 6 months while finding that job. I have had to suffer by giving a 3rd of my paycheck to insurances companies so that my children could have health insurance. Mr Obama's "greatest achievement" while President has cost my family about $9000 dollars a year, plus all the raises I have lost so my company can pay their portion of my health insurance.

My income. As an FAA Air Traffic Controller, Bush froze Controller (my) pay for three years, our supervisor and everyone else continue to get pay raise but we did not. Obama came into office and corrected that with controllers in his first three years. That raised my high three and so it is still benefiting me.

My belief in the actual work ethics of my elected representatives to stay focused on their constituencies and not their parties at the local level..it's pretty appalling. Usually only half voted them in but they are paid to represent all. I think that's in the job description.
It seems to be treated more like gang turf to the exclusion of benefit for all.

Race relations. Have heard some of my friends discuss the problems. Although I agree with some of it I also see a lot that seems staged. Looters are often bussed in. Protestors are bussed in. It makes our whole country look bad. Comments from the higher government that do not help.

My life hasnt suffered at all. I think President Obama did an OUTSTANDING job. He was the first POTUS in a long time to remain scandal free, he was very intelligent and represent Americans very well.
To me race relations havent changed with him in office. People still think the same way but Trump has brought out all the undercover bigots out.

My gains at the gym have skyrocketed. I bought myself a new 2017 Harley Davidson Night Rod Special. Adopted a Golden Retriever puppy. Oh wait, I did those things as I am the master of my domain. No one affects my life but me. Democrat, Republican, black, or white...it's all me. Though the president may take credit for what we Service Members do, I will not take credit for what they do. I see the country as a whole worse off but we shall see what the next administration has in store for us.

Hard call here. My first impulse is to list my sanity. The easiest think I can measure is my finances. Under obama, the admin went out of its way to screw up the real estate investor world, and that is how I make my money. From a national standpoint. I think obama screwed up race relations and nation security the most.

For the first time in over a decade, my mother and sister have health and dental insurance. My mother had been in constant pain because she couldn't get insurance until ACA.

I have not suffered at all in fact ever since I retired in 2010 my net income is more than when I was still working . Before I retired I had worked for 38 years without being fired or layed off . and before that I did a 3 year AD stint in the Army . So I can honestly say that I haven't suffered during Obama's two terms as President .

MSgt George Cater I can't say we have suffered personally, but our national credibility and security has very much. Race relations is worse, and the national view of our police has suffered a great deal. Without the ROL (Rule of Law), we would descend into anarchy. Hopefully, Mr. Trump can move these things back forward...

I do think (don't hate me) that some of the provisions of ACA were good... like being able to keep kids on our insurance past 23... But, ACA is another topic altogether. Hopefully, we can find a good solution moving forward.

I've got to agree with SMSgt Minister Gerald A. "Doc" Thomas on the race relations. It seems that the divide has only been getting greater every week in this country since he took office. I don't know if it's his fault directly per se but it's had an impact felt across the country.

The sequestration and cuts in the military have also had an impact across the branches, I've seen it pretty significantly in the Air Force. Good people forced out for minor and petty things without hardly giving them a second chance. Other people getting out of their own accord constantly due to a lack of faith in leadership and burnout from high ops tempo with low manning. Others getting out simply because they're sick of all of the PC BS that keeps flooding down while the military is being used as one giant social experiment by Washington.

I look across the units I have been in so far and honestly at every unit I could probably name more people planning on ending their careers after their current enlistment is up than I can name people planning on staying in until retirement. The Air Force itself is realizing that they need to increase their numbers to meet new mission needs but they aren't pulling in half the new recruits needed while at the same time more and more skilled individuals currently in are leaving in droves to pursue better opportunities on the outside.

I hope for the sake of the AF and all branches that it gets better in the coming years but it's going to take a hell of a lot of work to fix things right now.

A few material ones are:
1. I pay more in federal taxes than I should
2. My healthcare costs have spun out of control the last number of years
3. My kids were affected by the chicanery in the school lunch program
4. Tens of thousands of new regulations. Some hitting my industry others in my personal life

The larger impact is the negative impact to the US stature in the world which will haunt our children and grand children unless we can get it fixed.

We are more exposed to terrorist attack now than ever with refugees and others pouring across open borders.

American's wages are kept down by millions of illegals flooding the job pool. It is simple supply and demand. Lots of people there to do a job will drive down the wage needed to be paid to do it.

I could go on.

The benefits appear to be that he, unlike the last democrat president, kept himself out of sex scandals and by all appearances seems a good family man.

Like LTC Kevin B. said, my portfolio also did quite well during President Obama and his administration's tenure. This isn't saying that that he was directly involved.

I was also unemployed for a good 6 months, the social plan worked out (although that's more local government). My taxes did slightly increase, although not by a margin that I'm complaining about (I make over six figures, I don't care). My healthcare costs slightly increased (extra $20) per month, however my healthcare package is significantly better.

Overall I'm paying a little more, but I get a good return on investment.

Suffered the most from would definitely be Obamacare. Still paying off more than a grand in hospital bills when my wife used her insurance once.

I think the only part of me that benefitted during his 2 terms was me joining the Marine Corps and getting a new perspective on life which also helped shaped my perceptions on politics, country, and a lot of the things most citizens take for granted.

Meh. Seems like I get less back on my taxes and more taken out. Though I suppose Congress is to blame for that. Had trouble finding certain ammo or the price went up every time he talked about gun control, that kinda sucked.

That's just talking about me.

I don't value myself over the Republic, the President never had any affect on me personally.

I can't think of any positive effect President Obama has had on me. As far a negative effects on me personally. My Tricare Prime Retired benefits were severely reduced. Example, my bad cholesterol was tested very high for a time. With diet change and guidance from a nutritionist I got it down very low. Initially I was supposed to be retested every six months. After two years my doctor advised me that because of Obamacare Tricare would only pay for one cholesterol test every five years instead of once every six months as previously done, unless my cholesterol went back up over 200 again.
