But I said "What else do you have?" He said, "Mechanic or cook." I said I'll take that intel thing. Then found out security clearances are not cool. At all. Especially when you work in the S2 shop...

I did ask about reclassing in 2013 but was told I'd have to give up my promotable status to do it (I was a SSG (P)). I said nope. I'll keep that. I don't think I did wrong going with 35 series. But I think I may have enjoyed my career a little more doing something I enjoyed. My maternal grandmother had a photo of one of my uncles on the ladder leading into the cockpit of a jet in the Air Force and that just looked like what I ought to do. Then I found out that wasn't going to happen.

Without a change to my eyesight, then pretty much what I did: Medic for a few years, then Combat Engineer for a few years. I would have skipped my break in service and time as an MP in the TXARNG. I would have gone to OCS after doing the Sapper thing for a few years and I would have hoped for MI (I can't see the Army having made me a grunt officer with my eyesight - so Combat Engineer officer probably wouldn't have happened, nor Infantry, but I think I could have contributed in MI and stayed in longer, been more satisfied, gotten retirement.)
