I like to lead because I want to be the best, I want everyone around me to be the best. I want everyone on my team to feel as family, to care about and help each other to be successful.

Soldiers. They are the reason we should all want to be Leaders. You are directly influencing their career, their lives and the mission at hand. They motivate me everyday to want to be the best Leader I can be. The reason I choose to follow someone is because of how they conduct themselves, how they feel about the Army, and how they treat Soldiers. When someone whole heartedly believes in what you are doing you feed off of that and want to follow them and gain knowledge through them.

There were 7 Female Drills identified to start the program in January. I know, because I am one of them. We are interested to see what exactly will happen when we get to Fort Benning.

It's simple... I was taught a certain way by some great NCOs. I am passing on what they taught me so we have a continual supply of leaders who care and have a heart and soul.

This is a great question SPC Margaret Higgins, thank you for asking! What motivates me to lead? What good is having knowledge if you keep it all to yourself? Knowledge is one of the few things in life we have complete control over. Sharing knowledge is what motivates me to lead. What motivates me to follow? This is easy, great leaders is what motivates me to follow.

My motivation as always been to help people and do the best I could given the job at hand. When asked... I lead... when a leader was needed... I stepped up... whe the leader needed support/guidance... a strong right hand... I did that for them! The first lessen i had to learn as a PFC about leadership was simply/difficult... SSG Pretlow said, "Junior.... leading aint about you...." he pointed to the PVTs just getting to the unit "its about taking care of them!"

Lead: A mission worth accomplishing, and personnel that need leading.
Follow: A mission worth accomplishing and a leader worth following.

If nobody else will lead, then I assume the position. If someone else is already leading, then I'm fine to follow and assist the leader of necessary.

SPC Margaret Higgins My motivation for leading is the to help teach and change people's lives in such a manner that they are positive, successful, resourceful, self-starters, and become leaders in training to help/guide/lead more people to accomplish their dreams and aspirations. Domino effect!

I enjoyed leading for the purpose of molding the organization and creating a positive culture. Sometimes I rallied around them, and sometimes they rallied around me. It gave me a great sense of accomplishment when the soldiers and NCOs grew professionally and personally. I was willing to be a conduit of change and growth.

Leadership goes both ways. First it gives one the satisfaction of bringing up the younger ones and sharing knowledge of real world situations. One can only learn so much from a book. I feel it is best to lead by example. Train people the way you want them to perform. I tend to work in a team setting, granted there is a leader, but I am always open to new and innovative ideas. So, to answer the question I get motivation to lead and follow from the same set of personal standards.
