What makes a great chaplain mentor/supervisory chaplain?

CH (CPT) Private RallyPoint Member, I would suggest that a great chaplain and supervisory chaplain requires spiritual maturity, wisdom, character above reproach, trustworthiness as a start.

A great chaplain has the ability to see the full spectrum of organizations that can help someone.

I can't realy speak as an authority, but the two traits that I desired to see in a chapline are:

1. An individual that has a heart for his soldiers and a mutual respect for the conviction of others.

2. An individual that is firm in his own convictions regardless of whether it will win him personal acclaim or shame.

I think to be put in the positision to mentor a candidate as an honor. It is my experience that often the situations we are thrust into sharpen us more as leaders and people. Perhaps because I was a college minister for 6 years and enjoy mentoring, the idea of this position for me someday would be a huge honor.
