What kinds of hobbies do you enjoy that bring you happiness and/or mental peace?

I have found that it is a whole lot easier to remain emotionally centered - not sink into depression or go off the handle - when I have something to do that I enjoy. I like to stay busy with writing. I also go out with friends to sing karaoke, do stand-up comedy, and various other activities. What kinds of things do you like to do in order to keep your mind in the right place?

SGT Joseph Gunderson Walking, cooking, yard work, watching TV, and reading help. Sharing experiences on RallyPoint with other brothers and sisters is also good for helping find peace.

Woodworking, photography, outdoor pursuits, reading, and learning more in my subjects of interest. I agree, without hobbies life isn't near as enjoyable.

I am a life-long, avid reader. When I read, I do not see words. I see pictures in my head. This makes it easy for me to escape this world for another. To this day, I do so regularly, facilitated now by my Kindle, which I can ship out with thousands of books with, where before I had to deal with physical ones.

Crawl around in my backyard picking little bitty weeds out of my lawn after watering.
I have driven truck for 32 years. Never really tried to grow a lawn in back till two years ago.
It has really put me in touch with what I have missed. Can completely lose myself in it.
Good thing too. If I hadn't found something on my own then basketwesving might have been next.
Robins will "pal around" with you in the early summer after watering. Got to know some well.
Amazing how they just walk around on the wet and snare huge worms right out of the ground when I can't see a darn thing.
As soon as I turn on the sprinklers they line up on the fence.
Sounds silly maybe but it's done me a world of good.
Also an incredible sense of accomplishment which has evaded me for almost my whole life.
I am incredibly good at my work, but that's just work. Someday that will be done.

In a last few years that I've been bed ridon I have been watching a lot of old time moves ans tv shows from the 60s. Before I went down I built so many things. Trucks, tractors, camping trailers, trailers, 58 Chevy truck, 65 Chevy truck and a couple of racing tractors with big motors like 455 old with an automatic transmission goes like a dragster. I'm about to have my last operation on Monday Mar 26th. A few months rehabilitation and I am going out fishing again, Boating and this fall deer hunting.

I refurbish antique furniture. It’s great to reveal the old wood and remove the tarnish of many years of use, and reveal its original beauty.

Swimming, playing the guitar. Since I live in Alaska, hiking, camping, fishing, snowshoeing, cross-country skiing and anything fun outside that the kids what to do.
