I have the Gillette Fusion. Monday shave is always the best; the rest of the week I have razor burn.

Any suggestions for something better?

I use a Dremel with the wire brush attachment.  Works great but I occasionally get nicked.  For aftershave I use gasoline and then light a match, just in case I missed a hair or two.

I went to a double-edged safety razor (a merkur, but nothing fancy), brush and soap about a year ago. Best change ever. Smoother shave and my skin thanks me. There were a few days early on where it looked like I'd been in a knife fight, but you re-learn how to shave pretty quickly.

I will occasionally use an electric razor - either when I am tired (knife fight syndrome), simply forgot to shave and grab my backup razor at work, or am traveling. Since I switched, I can't remember a single time I've gone back to a cartridge razor.

I recently switched to a safety razor. I use a Jagger with Gillette Super Blue blades. Even though they are some of the most expensive blades out there, they only cost me about $0.50 a blade. Even with just one pass, I get a closer shave than I did with a brand new Quatro. Two passes get it down to baby soft smooth skin.

Plus, it looks really cool.

Gillette Fusion on face an head everyday. I believe that its not always the blade but also the cream. I use Aveeno Positively Smooth Gel and I get a smooth close shave every time.

As someone with sensitive skin and tough stubborn facial hair, I have tried almost every electric and regular razor out there.

After all of it, I have come back to the Gillette Fusion. I tried the Fusion Power, and thought maybe there was a difference (couldn't really tell) but the vibration constantly made my arm tired while shaving, so I'm back to non-powered.

The key difference for me is shaving in the shower. The warm water and steam keeps my face soft and pliable, which results in a closer more comfortable shave. When I shave at the sink, I notice the shaving cream dries up on my face, and shaving hurts more (razor burn). So I shave in the shower whenever possible.

I was taught as a teenager to shave with a straight razon and to this day I prefer it over all others. Plus, in my experience, it teachs a person the "art" of shaving and forces a person to allott time for shaving instead of it being an afterthought.

Like my father and grandfather before me, I use a Norelco. However, I keep a few triple-bladed Bic disposables and a travel-sized shaving cream in my kit just in case.

For civilian/ garrison use I've always used a Mach 3. For the field I have a cheap Braun M60B electric. I have a 1700 shadow at 1000, so I can't ever get away with not shaving, even in the field. Since dry shaving or shaving with cold water sucks on a level not known to many civilians, I use the electric strictly for field use. It knocks off enough of the stubble to keep 1SG off my back but without giving me razor burn.

never tried a safety razor. I used the generic version of Gillette at the PX. I'm a penny pincher. I use a Merkur safety razor. Took a bit of time to get used to however wasn't that bad. Also use a good shaving soap or cream not the canned crap you get at Wal-Mart. I started using Proraso shave cream (come in a tube) and a badger hair brush. Additionally I use the Proraso aftershave. Haven't had an irritated face after shaving since I started using quality products. I still spend less a year using shaving cream that costs 10 bucks a tube because I can get 100 blades for 11 bucks (love Amazon).

I had used the multi blade razors my whole life up I saw this post and after reading some of the responses I decided to try the safety razor I will never go back to the multi blade razors again the blades last longer it is a smoother shave and it does not get clogged up it is a 100 times better then any experience I ever had with the multi blade razors.

Safety razor my ass! I had one of those when I first started to shave, that is nothing more than a torture device created by the Japanese to get us to bleed out before they attacked Pearl Harbor. I used to cut myself so much with that damn thing that my 1st Sergeant put me on suicide watch.

for my head I prefer a 4 blade system. for my face the old nostalgic safety razor.
