Setting aside the fact that the book specifically talks more about the rise and industrialization of other nations, and not the downfall of the United States we should have a president who is well-versed in influential literary works that either may agree, or disagree with his individual thought processes. It is of great importance that individuals be able to have the critical thinking skills that allow them to read books, watch movies, and listen to others speak with views that do not simply pat their preconceived notions on the back. For example I have read Mein Kampf yet I’m not a Nazi, nor am I a fan of Adolf Hitler, but it helped me round out my understanding of the ways that individuals like Hitler manipulate people.

I have found Fareed Zakaria to be one of the most balanced and thoughtful journalists on CNN. I would be interested to read his book. There is strong evidence America has reached its zenith within the world order (still arguable, I'm sure), and we Americans would be smart to see how other empires and nations have made "successful" or "unsuccessful" transitions from singular superpower to one amongst many (England) or to nothingness (Rome).

My first thought was Chameleon SGT Francis Wright. That is obviously over simplistic and does not to credit to the chameleons who "star" in the valspar paint commercial. :-)
If you look at the lines on POTUS Obama's face and see his graying head you see the impact of incredible stress he has been under for a long time.
I am glad POTUS Obama reads books and hope he has passed on that trait to his daughters.

What the President chooses to read is his affair. I have also read that book and found it fairly insightful.
Having said that, I'll bet he really was pissed that he was photographed with that book in his hands.

SGT Francis Wright - Sergeant; You might want to take a look at what the thesis of the book is: that a 'post-American' world order is emerging in which the United States will continue to be the most powerful nation but its relative power will be diminished. He believes that there have been three power shifts in the last 500 years: a shift of power to the West during the Renaissance, a shift of power to the US making it a superpower, and now a shift to several surging countries, especially China and India, and to non-governmental organizations. If you think that Publisher: W. W. Norton & Company (the publisher of the book) is some sort of "Muslim Front" then you are seriously in need of help (preferably "residential").

I'd say about average. Some good some bad. Got a giant pile of shit handed to him but has managed pretty well. The post should read fellow American, not fellow Muslim. I really like Fareed. Even if they were both the same religion, who gives a rats ass. This is definitely one for the tin hats.
