USAJobs.gov for my current one. My previous at University of Michigan was found through Indeed.com.

I primarily used ClearanceJobs.com. It easily recruits from people with clearance and I certainly wanted it to be a factor in the work I did.

I used job boards for a while. Eventually I just transitioned to my linked in account and received even more responses. My current job came through a LinkedIn recommendation

I had two civilian careers. One in the private sector that I started in 1991 and stayed with until 2007. Then moved to the public sector as an Army Civilian. In 1991 there weren't any "job boards." Found the job through networking with civilian contractors. In 2007, I used USAJobs to find civilian job with the Army. Also looked on many other job boards over the years as they became more prevalent in the market place. Monster comes to mind, but that was over a decade ago.

As a private consultant I used a dual strategy to get work. First, I taught technology classes at professional learning centers (computer programming and network administration). Interestingly, some employers sent non-technical people to learn programming and then hired me to write applications for them when they discovered how long it would take to train these employees to be competent programmers. Secondly, I used brokers. Some made up to 50% commissions on my placements and I still received over $100/hour for my time. It was worth it because they could be looking for opportunities while I serviced clients and didn't have time to look for the next gig.

Although it's good to use job boards and apply "blind," please do not make this the primary way you look for a job. Only 10-15% of all jobs are filled like this. Many jobs on job boards aren't real vacancies, they are just trying to see what kind of pool is out there. The applicants are high, so the competition is stiff. You will be a lot more successful by having a plan: targeting the companies you want, doing your research, and networking with people in those companies to ask for advice, not necessarily ask for a job. It's a process but it pays off much more than just looking blindly.

I ended up using Indeed to find the job I have now. Indeed can be a little annoying because sometimes it recommends jobs that you don't have any kind of reason to apply for like I think it told me that there were some physician job openings near me.

Really none. I was raised on a farm, there was an opening where I work at now, I applied for the job, and was hired two weeks later. Besides my dad was a part time salesman for the owner.

SSgt Private RallyPoint Member When I was discharged in June 1972, I had a goal of working for the Space Program in Houston, Texas. Knowing that I needed a degree, I had researched the chemical companies on the Houston Ship Channel. I worked for Diamond Shamrock Chemical Company, and once I had my degree, I started work for the Space Shuttle Program. Libraries are great places to do research.

I used Intelligencecareers.com, Clearancejobs.com and a few others i can't remember.
I also applied directly to companies. I was hired for my first job a month after retiring.

I have always done my searching on Indeede.com since it's the most popular job agitator and you will have openings from other job boards and company websites. I advise going directly to the company website from there and applying directly to avoid having to fill out multiple system profiles for the job board and then the company since those almost never cross over.

I can tell you that I didn't really utilize a jobs board per se. I searched monster for available jobs and applied directly to the company. My current job came to me through a contact I made in college. All I can suggest is that you search for openings and tailor you resume and letter to the company you wish to get hired. Additionally do research on the company. The first job I got after ets hired me because I asked questions that showed I understood the company's business plan.

None, I will tell you that I kept in touch with fellow soldiers who left the service before me. It is not a matter of boards, it's a matter of Networking. It is easier to find a job if you know someone, than to try to explain to a stranger your qualifications

It may also provide beneficial opportunities in seeking enterprise which are eligible and utilizing federal tax incentives in the hiring of veteran employees. Pay attention to any individually unique factors which allow multiple incentives and credits for the employer, ie diversity, or if you have received benefit or assistance in the past 90 days, even a legal responsibility in monthly ordered support may provide a boost in the long list.

While all companies desire the best candidate for the job, in a world of business these substantial credits are as much a part of determining the asset value of potential employees as the personality, skill set and experience.
