What issues should our leaders be looking at more closely?

I have been hearing over and over about the changes that are coming to AR 670-1 because of the issues with different hair styles. Quite frankly I am happy that they are making those changes to help our female SM of ethnic decent. What I don't get is how this issue got pushed to the top of the pile. As a whole the military is having issues with money, training, equipment, discipline and these are only a few. Why are they not getting the same outrage and support as female SM's hair styles in the military? I just don't get it. We can figure out how to fix a regulation to allow hair styles why can't that same energy be put into more important issues?
