What is your reaction to this little known blast from the past?

To me it represents an innovative act of kindness that cost little to nothing yet had such a positive impact on so many whose families were struggling. Have to say, this is little bit of history that makes me proud.

Or, it could mean that the flour producers started using different fabrics as a way of differentiating their flour so they could attract market share (and the benevolent aspect was part of the marketing pitch). Once one company did it, the rest would have probably had to follow suit in order to defend their market share.

Back then? Maybe it contained a tad more of the aspect that those companies were trying to do something nice. Today? I think it would be 0% about doing something nice and 100% about the profit motive.
