When I was a recruiter in South Jersey 2010-13, I used Craigslist. I met some very interesting characters that way. Nobody that actually joined though. Lol

It's easier to manage communicating with someone to dumb to communicate by word of mouth communications. Besides, when they lie to you, you have a written record.

If we are discussing this in the context of recruiting, I would utilize every means of communication necessary. All of them are the absolute best means to communicate until you establish a rapport with them. At that point, especially in person (knee cap to knee cap) you discuss with them the best way to communicate with them. This will never take away from traditional "old school" of communicating by phone and in person. Utilize every means to gain that first contact, stay up to date on all the different methods especially the age groups. Then come to mutual means to communicate between each other to include a secondary and tertiary methods.

If that person wants to make sure they contacted me, it had better be by conversation in person or on the phone. Yes I have text and email but I have no tether to them so getting back may take some time. My wife on occasion has strapped a note to the dog's collar and sent him after me. So Dtext works for short haul stuff.

If we were talking personally, I'd probably say Facebook since it's the easiest way to get in touch with someone. If we were talking professionally, I would say either email or text message. With this global economic world we live in sometimes I'd rather not wait until an appropriate time in certain timezones to call someone. Emails and texts allow the individual to get back to you at their convenience.

I find that most people are not available for face-to-face, so I resort to my favorite fall back, the phone. While yes I check my email religiously, I find it rather impersonal. Texting is fine, but only if the recipient can respond in a timely manner; and no, 8 hours later is not in a timely manner.

Face to Face. 100 business cards a day. I wouldn't stop until I gave them all out.
