What is your "pet peeve" (and nothing political, please)?

This question was asked sometime in 2014 when most of us weren't even here, so I decided to ask it as a new question. After all, don't we need something to distract us from all the politics?

My pet peeve is plastic. This was brought home to me about ten minutes ago as I attempted to unwrap some purchases I made at Costco today. There were razor blades held together behind a plastic bubble welded to a piece of cardboard fashioned from a sheet of steel cut from a battleship. There was the plastic wrap bundling a lifetime supply of paper towels. Another bundling a lifetime supply of Kleenex. (At my age anything more than a couple may be a lifetime supply). I save those wraps and tap them together to form a shelter in case of nuclear holocaust. I'm climbing in and taping the slit closed behind me.

I'm getting ready to be a cranky old man...LOL

1.) Going through the drive thru, then having to go back when they screw your order up.
2.) People who are mean to animals.
3.) Being asked my telephone number/account number AFTER I already entered in using the keypad on my phone. I thought I was supposed enter that info to "better assist me".
4.) People who walk their dogs and let them poop indiscriminately (like on someone's lawn), and does not pick it up.
5.) Jerks who take up 2 parking spaces.

Paper flyers from all my kids schools, sport teams, and church. They ask for email addresses and phone numbers, and they send emails, texts, and leave voicemails already. So.... stop wasting paper someday please. Or leave my phone alone instead.

I hate it when people use hash tags. Hash tags are used in computer programming language, and now on Twitter or whatever, but people just slap them on wherever they want and it's really annoying.

Made-up words and phrases in the military: "It would be who of you..." "... Irregardless..." etc. That happens everywhere, but seems far more accepted and normalized in our profession; it drives me crazy.

When I drove truck it was people who couldn't wait for me to accelerate and would pass me, only to drive slower than I had intended to. Now, I'm getting cranky in my not so old age, and I've got a laundry list of ways to piss me off; talking on the phone in public, losing track of whose turn it is at a 4 way stop, leaving hats on inside, commercials, pop country, Prius drivers, loud diesels, liquid soap, skinny jeans, vegetarian MREs, and people who tell me I need to chill out, etc.

Well, I have been labeled a curmudgeon for most of my adult life because pretty much everything annoys me. The top few include:
Children running around or being obnoxiously noisy in a restaurant (or even other public spaces) while the parents do NOTHING..never mind they just bumped the server who almost spilled a tray of food.
Drivers who can't conduct the simplest task of driving; the red light or stop sign is not a place to check your emails, messenger, or Facebook (this would include Rally Point), you do not stop in a round-a-bout, that ramp that goes from a city street to the freeway? You can accelerate on that... in fact, the 10 cars behind you wish you would do just that, No that was not me blocking you from entering my lane, that was you on your phone drifting into my lane, That turn lane I just blocked you from entering? Maybe you should have thought about getting into it prior to 10' before the turn... yes, honk and tell me I'm number one. When it snows, it helps to know your limits. Driving to fast? I'll see you in the ditch in a mile or two. What really drives me nut is on mild snowfalls when most traffic is doing 55-60 and you're the one person, in the middle lane, afraid to drive faster than 25 miles per hour on the highway. I realize you need to be cautious but your level of cautiousness is endangering everyone else. I could go on all day on driving pet peeves. But since I drive a couple hundred miles almost every day, thought I'd mention a few here.
I AM A GRAMMAR NAZI! Mostly when it comes to spelling errors and made-up words (ironically, I kind of suck at punctuation". It takes every fiber of my being not to call someone out on a spelling mistake or some usage of a word that doesn't exist. Recently, someone "liked" a Facebook post of mine from 2014. I went back and read my post. I found a spelling error... and corrected it. It didn't matter that it was 2 years ago. I've gotten much better about correcting others though.

These are just a few from near the top of my list. I know. I'm just a cranky old man.

Update: And I just came back to correct some more spelling errors on this one.

Textspeak, poor spelling, poor grammar. I'm not talking about typos, which everyone makes. I'm talking about seeing Major's here on RP saying 'ur' or 'there' that should have been a 'their'. (Sorry Majors, I see it a all ranks, just pickin on you!). Or people online (not usually this bad, here, but other places) who want u 2 kno there kool by tyeping liek dis.

My kids learned early on to never text me in textspeak. I won't respond. So I'm probably the only person they text to in normal English.

My biggest is probably people that watch over my shoulder while I am on computer or anything else, especially when I am reading things. If you are so interested in the news article or whatever else I am looking at then go back to your computer and look at it yourself. And God rest your soul if I continue to scroll and you tell me to go back because you weren't finished reading. When I am in the chair I am driving the computer, go away and leave me to read at my pace.

I think my biggest pet peeve would be getting canceled on repeatedly. I make plans to be somewhere or spend time with someone and at the last minute they cancel, or worse they cancel with out telling me till I tell them I'm on my way.

The second biggest would be helping my friends when they need help, then the moment I need help on something simple, they all of a sudden are "too busy" or "can't".

Saran wrap when it sticks to everything but what you want it to.
people who walk slowly (for no reason).
Lazy leaders, and workers
being talked down to because someone thinks I'm stupid from my age or rank.

Where do I begin? #1. people who haven't managed to master the basic skill of chewing with their mouth closed. #2. loud phone talkers. (hint: screaming into the phone does not help the person on the other end hear you better) #3. People who prolong CUBs, BUBs and any other meetings by asking inane irrelevant questions, just to hear themselves talk. #4. When white people try to speak in ebonics. #5. people who misuse the English language (hello, it's "specific", not "pacific") #6. Having to sit through a 2 hour meeting when a 10 sentence email would have worked just as well.

(1) Nails on the chalk board (drives me nuts), (2) Disrespectful people, (3) People who have no regard for feelings or love to interrupt while talking, (4) People in DMV in regards to their driving.... For those who don't know what the DMV is -- it is the area consisting of DC, Maryland, and Virginia.

1. Answering the cell phone in front of me when we are talking.
2. Integrity breaches...just be honest.
3. Cell phones at the dinner table (restaurants etc)...not allowed at my house during dinner
4. Cell phone drivers...watch what the heck is going on or pull over to talk...don't do both...you can't see with that big phone tied to that growth on your shoulders
5. Bad customer service...it does not make things easier when I am the customer and you are rude to me or act like I am doing you a favor by spending my time and money with you!
6. Being mean or hateful to old people, young people, disabled people, or animals...serious hot button.
7. Group texts...HATE THE REPEAT ANSWERS
8. EMOJIS and text talk...just tell me what you need to tell me...in PLAIN english

One of my big pet peeves is people talking on their cell phones in a check out line. It's rude to not just the cashier, but no one in line usually gives a damn about your conversation!

I don't have children so maybe I'm less patient than others, but my other pet peeve is when kids are out of control in public. I'm not talking about a toddler melt down that stuff happens.

My pet peeve is people who have little or no respect for other people's time. I get annoyed by people who are habitually late, especially those who do not even bother to call ahead and let you know they'll be late. I also get annoyed by people who insist on taking up my time with trivial matters after I've let them know that I'm busy and have only a few minutes to spare them.

PROFANITY. I joined the Army on August 22, 1966, and was sent to Ft. Lewis, Washington for BCT where I did, in fact, come under the tender administrations of a "Gunnery Sergeant Hartman" type experience. No problem. There were no women or children in that environment; there was a full-blown war going on...it was acceptable. Imagine my surprise to see a sign above the Commander's door, "Profanity is the mark of an ignorant man;" an admonition I have never forgotten. I am no verbal virgin, but a strong believer in 'time and place' for everything. No one out there will satisfactorily explain to me why this generation believes it's acceptable to substitute gutter profanity for casual verbal discourse. Civility is nonexistent and too many believe they can say anything they want without consequence. We had one such in our office in Iraq, who, despite being counseled both verbally and in writing, refused to comply with verbal harassment policy and was fired as a result from his annual $216K position. I came from a 'more gentle' world and am saddened at the one we have become.
