Jesse James and his brother used to hang out at the "Elkhorn", and when the law would come looking, Jesse James and his brother would hide out in the basement of the Elkhorn. The basement door is still intact as well, damn near in the middle of the bar. Also home to The San Miguel Mission, which is one of the original 21 missions in the State of California built by the Spaniards back in the day. Wine country, surrounded by vineyards and cattle ranches. This area is rich in history so just to name a few .........Mormon Religion founded in Palmyra NY surrounding areas have Jello, Ragu, Chuck Mangione. Lou Gramm of Foreigner, and as Wikipedia puts it ...Easily the three most prominent Rochesterians in the national consciousness are abolitionist Frederick Douglass, suffragist Susan B. Anthony, and inventor/philanthropist George Eastman( Kodak ) . It use to be such an important area for technology. They had Bausch &amp; Lomb, Xerox, Kodak. Sarah Coventry Jewelry, and Jackson Perkins Roses just to name a few. They are just not tryng to draw many high end technology jobs back to the area again. If You have never shopped at a Wegmans Grocery store than you have never experienced what a Grocery store should be like.
