Sometimes, you see movies that make fun of other movies or even make fun of themselves. This is one of my favorites the movie Hot Shots where Charlie Sheen all of a sudden starts listening to the voice of his dad Martin Sheen from Apocalypse Now.

A TV series, Maverick, produced a spoof of the venerable western series, Gunsmoke. The opening of Gunsmoke, a low angle closeup off Marshall Dillon's quick draw and shot, was recreated in exquisite detail, gun, holster, clothing, etc. After the Marshall fires his single round, the real show went to titles. In the parody on Maverick, the Marshall pauses, then fires several more shots. After a moment, Maverick's voice is heard in the distance, "You want I should step a little closer, Marshall?" From that moment on the show got funnier and funnier. It was so popular that the network re-broadcast it the next week by popular demand. Sorry, I can't find a video of it. Even if I could, I doubt that many would appreciate it having never seen the original series. Obviously, it's vivid in my memory all these decades later.
