I know I'm prejudiced, and I'm proud of it! I have only driven one new vehicle in my life, and the rest have been used up. I've owned two '85 F-150s with the 300 straight six. I had one '76 F-250 with the 390. (only Ford I've ever owned that wasn't worth the money and effort I put into it.) A '78 F250 with 351M. That truck ran so well that it would idle down so low that the torque converter would disengage and engage, causing the truck to lurch. A drunk driver hit it and totaled that truck out. I had a 1990 F-150 with 300. Ran that thing right into the dirt. Also a '91 with 302. I beat that truck and burned the 302 up, replaced it with a 351 my father in law gave me. Had a '99 with 4.6 that I ran for a few months. It was beaten pert near to death before I got it, but I believe it's still running around. Presently drive an '01 with 207,000 miles on it. 5.4, 4x4, quad cab, short box.

I can't say that a Ford is better than any other truck when new, but I can say as a connoisseur of redneck mobiles, that a 15 or 20 year old Ford with 200k on it is better than somebody elses 20 year old vic. I also run a 2000 Toyota Sienna with 215k on it. Runs fine, but the door handles are busted, the hood latch is busted, lots of little things on it are broken. Every power window, lock and latch on my Ford work, up until a few weeks ago when (I believe) the blend door went out on my 150 causing the heat to go out. That's the difference between a Ford and it's competition. The truck was big, I mean big. White with special white. Decided it was. Ore than I wanted so I traded for a Honda Ridgelind and love the small Honda. The best looking and best rides are chey but the cummins is a great engine Ford does offer a cummins or catipillar if you request it in the F450-F650. I would still choose the Ford.
