What is your favorite Summer Olympic sport or event?

I have long been a major fan of the Decathalon for two specific reasons. First, I think Jim Thorpe should be declared the most incredible athlete of all time (to date). Second, and I need to quiet when I mention this, but I attended college with the guy(?) who won it in Montreal in 1976. We were once very good friends. In fact, his first wife is a cousin of mine. I think the Decathalon really separates the men from the boys...or, in this second person's case, I guess it separates the men from the, well, whatever...

Love track and field and Bob Costas, but this must be the most unanticipated Olympics in the history of the sport. Can an Olympics fly under the radar? Is it safe for our athletes? There were even reports yesterday that some venues are still incomplete -- and the Games start this FRIDAY! Crazy!
