The origin thread is 2+ years old but I updated it recently and added some new suspects.
Before I served, I always respected vets. I listened to their stories and even helped them.
Later returning as a vet I had a poser try and exploit my kindness. I had grown some facial hair while on leave and I did not advertise my service back then because I hadn't done much yet. I was approached by someone and I helped him. I was still young and easily fooled even then but the man turned out to be a fake. I was disappointed as I would have helped him without the lie. Worse I found out he didn't need the help but was just a con-artist. The problem his others I knew maintained the view he had served when in Vietnam, when in fact he had likely been a protestor who spit on those Vietnam vets coming home.
More over if someone wants the glory they should serve, otherwise almost anything does not count.

If he has command at sea, he is called Captain even if he is a Commander. Most small ships are Captained by Commanders and not full Captains.

The Commanding Officer of a vessel is called Captain. Most of my ship's CO's were Commanders. In this case, the good Cap'n appears to be in command of a cereal bowl LOL

SGT Gregory Lawritson - Holy Cow! He has lost some weight. It would be tough trying to figure out where a well placed round would hurt the most. LOL
