I have Google Drive, Mega, and Drop Box. Although now I pay for Google services to attain 100 Gigs of Cloud storage. My computer recently went side ways. I got a new computer. I pretty much stored everything on my computer but I linked it my Google drive so it automatically syncs it. So when I logged back into my Google Drive on my desktop it was like nothing was happened. I have done this a few times. Plus it makes it able to reach files on the cloud from any device and I can share files with with anyone by sharing a folder. Once I break out (buisness) I'm sure I will use it for more stuff. I've been burned in every way, from having my TRASH-80 cassettes get "eaten" to dropping my cards on the floor (without numbering them), to "energetic disassembly" of hard drives, to... you get the picture.<br /><br />1. On-hardware backup (i.e., modular drive, SSD, of course)<br />2. Off-hardware backup (NAS in my house... RAID 1E across 3 drives)<br />3. No "Cloud" for me. One of my clients has a group of paid cyber-ANTI-security "punks" whose purpose in life is to break into places to test vulnerabilities. "Cloud" means that everyone can see your junk... That being said, I'm not a fan of living in the cloud. I may start backup up more of my files to it. I have used Google Drive a little and I also like it (I also like what you said about 100G for $1.99 a month). Dont have realy a need for 100gigs of information that isnt recoverable. <br /><br />Cloud computing by definition i think is accessing your files remotley. I can VPN back to the hoise and there i access anything i want via webdav, ftp or smb (windows file share on linux). <br /><br />My "Cloud" pc is a dell poweredge T300 with 4x73Gb in raid 10 hot swap config. Been using it for a year now and maybe 20% full. I have 8 backup drives ready to hot swap. <br /><br />External to my cloud pc, i have a 4tb, 3tb, 2tb and a 1tb seagate NAS so they are all accessabe within my network.
